fckn hell Joanna..as blatant as it gets.

Held up in rear, some headway going easily 2f out, edged right over 1f out, not clear run repeatedly inside final furlong, nudged along when in the clear inside final 110yds, went fourth post, ran on well, eyecatcher
Could be a R & R enq this one, nothing on the BHA website yet, not even a : Joanna Mason reported the gelding was denied a clear run. |

For much of the race it appeared she had the option to go to the outer, say follow Mulrennan through.
Then she did meet trouble in the run but when eventually in the clear all she did was bounce up and down in the saddle. So I'll be astounded if there isn't a R & R enq here. |

Race 2 - 2:10pm
THE FOLLOW @vickersracing ON X HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4) Permission was given for HOLY FIRE to wear a red hood to the start and for SPARKLING RED (IRE), DREAM FOR GOLD (IRE), and AMERICAN STAR (IRE) to all go early to post. An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching the 2 furlong marker when GRANT WOOD (IRE), unplaced, ridden by David Nolan, interfered with EL MONTEJEAN, unplaced, ridden by Harry Russell. The interference was found to be accidental in that GRANT WOOD (IRE) shifted quickly right-handed off the heels of a rapidly weakening HOLY FIRE before being quickly corrected by Nolan. An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line involving MYTHICAL PHOENIX (IRE), placed second, ridden by Paul Mulrennan, DANZAN (IRE), placed third, ridden by David Allan, and ILLUSIONIST (GER), placed fifth, ridden by Harrison Shaw. The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved the placing’s of DANZAN (IRE) or MYTHICAL PHOENIX (IRE), as the ground and momentum lost by ILLUSIONIST (GER) was considered to be less than the official distance of 1¼ lengths between the runners at the line and ILLUSIONIST (GER) appearing to be both weakening and being well held by the other two runners at the time of interference. Allan was cautioned for careless riding as he was slow to correct his mount from drifting left-handed causing Shaw to take a check aboard DANZAN (IRE) when tight for room between runners. Following the race, Kevin Stott reported that HOLY FIRE, which was pulled up, was never travelling and the Veterinary Officer examined the filly post-race and had nothing to report. knott a menchun..absolute incompetence at its best. |

Sometimes the R & R enquiry reports don't appear until much later on

Explanations noted:
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of ROYAL PLEASURE (IRE), ridden by Joanna Mason, and trained by Michael & David Easterby, which was slow into stride before being held up in rear throughout to stay on strongly inside the final ½ a furlong having gained clear running to finish fourth of fifteen runners, beaten by 2¼ lengths. The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the race and David Easterby was interviewed over the telephone. The Veterinary Officer examined ROYAL PLEASURE during routine testing on two occasions post-race and had nothing to report on both. The rider stated that her instructions were to jump out of the stalls and get ROYAL PLEASURE (IRE) travelling at an even pace and into a rhythm as the gelding has a history of respiratory issues having previously had a wind operation at another yard. Mason explained that being mindful that ROYAL PLEASURE (IRE) was slow into stride, she didn’t want to chase him up and force him into stride as he is a big horse with a high head carriage and can become unbalanced easily. She therefore added that her main aim was to keep ROYAL PLEASURE (IRE) balanced and travelling through the field and finish the race to obtain the best possible placing. Mason further added that the gelding became unbalanced approximately 3 ½ furlongs out and felt it took time for the horse to find his feet again before asking ROYAL PLEASURE (IRE) to mount his challenge. However, Mason further explained that she was denied a clear run continuously for approximately a furlong, a fact she reported at scales and that due to this she was unable to ride the gelding as vigorously as she would have liked for fear of clipping heels of the runners in front of her. Mason finalised her statement by adding that she was only able to ask for a more serious effort in the concluding stages having eventually gained a clear run. The trainer confirmed the instructions and was satisfied that the ride accorded with those instructions under the circumstances that ROYAL PLEASURE (IRE) was denied a clear run for a substantial part of the race. Their explanations were noted. |

Very articulate, wd. So you're asserting that she was told to go out on a very fit horse and get beat?

if ewe think Joanna tried then thats your opinion..why did the stewards have her in?
|
|
By:
I think she was there to try, couldn't win and saved it, I have no problem with that kind of thing. More puzzling is why there was no enquiry at all in the Ghianni race. Trying, couldn't win and saved it, same as Mason.
No consistency there, MWE being involved possibly the difference. |
