Andrew Rhodes, the chief executive of the Gambling Commission, said the rules were being introduced after a consultation process with customers and other parties.
They haven't published the responses to the consultation or their reasons for ignoring these responses. |

When I really break this down myself, for the majority of people £500 a month is quite alot. I mean council tax has just gone up , food prices £6 for a small piece of cheese, and eletric and gas are going up again
In other breaking news - Andrew Rhodes accidentally ruins his chances of being appointed the next Head Of The British Cheese Marketing Board, when it inevitably all goes t1ts up for him at the Gambling Commission! ![]() |

one betting company enabled a customer to spend £245,000 in three months despite knowing that she was an NHS nurse paid £30,000, or another when a customer lost £70,000 in 10 hours a day after opening the account.

Sounds like Gala Bingo to me - they don't sponsor "the chase" for nothing!
If you google and then go to their home page there are 3 links to bingo and 72 links to slots ![]() |

You start out hoping for two fat ladies (each to their own!) and you end up with one homeless lady.

The telling point about that anecdote (and all these other large sum stories) is that the firm would have broken the financial crime prevention rules, if they didn't investigate the source of funds.

Embezzlement ?

the point is, that the firm should have made source of funds enquiries. If they didn't, they broke the rules and why does the gambling commission think this story has relevance in their justification for more rules which presumably the same firm will ignore as well.

would be theft hayden, embezzlement is a crime for the middle class professionals. It wasn't a capital offence whereas theft was- can't have the middle classes going to the gallows.

White collar crime = fraud, embezzlement, false accounting, etc. Blue collar crime = theft. |
