Jumped too slowly on that quicker surface. Winner always travelling better. If they got a Cheltenham Gold Cup on a similar surface it wouldn't be a certainty that Galopin Des Champs would reverse this form.

The winner would probably have won the CGC despite the ground there, how many times does he have to beat GDC to prove he is the better horse?

Same ground at Cheltenham the result would still be the same imop. The shsrper track at Punchestown suits todays winner better. Winner won well today and I'd say Townend would like to have another go from the front in hindsight as Conflated made it very messy as he couldn't go round.

I think you miss the point that Fastor never had the chance to prove his worth at Chelt, pocket talking here for that race but imo the result would have been in doubt had he been there on the run in!!

But he didn't so you can't say he's the better horse because he didn't complete but would have won if he did in your opinion. Hopefully the horse stays sound and gives it another go next season.

Yet another slowly run affair though wasn't it, half a dozen horses within a couple of lengths of each other turning in, AI beaten 5 lengths and finishing half decent.

FOS jumps better and is quicker on that ground but I can't have him being better stayer over a proper GC test.

We will see next year.

Agree Duffy hopefully they all stay sound for next season, along with a couple of new faces in the division.

Apologies for having an opinion MJK and for admitting I had a financial interest in the GC. More than most do including you blaming jockeys for your losses on here?

I don't always agree with Mullins, but the horse couldn't lead today because he didn't jump well enough to lead.

But your 'opinion' was to say 'how many times do he have to beat him to prove he's the better horse' when it's 3-3 and GDC has beaten him in two Gold Cups. Fair enough if you think he's a better horse but the GC is the top race for stayers so don't know how you can say that. The rest I won't comment on as its just you showing your usual nasty streak and showing why a handful of posters on here are the reason why most hardly bother anymore.

GDC has always beat him on the 2 big days and you could argue that the Leopardstown is a bigger pot than this end of season contest and the other race over 2m 4f.

It is simply an opinion MJK without looking for someone to blame!! HTH

Could well be DD. Fastorslow could also have improved, could have been fresher (didn't have a hard race in the GC and today was only his 4th race (?) of the season.

I think it's one run too many esp after Cheltenham, and the shorter trip did not play to his strength either. Nevermind, Cheltenham 2025, if sound and fit.
