Anyone got suggestions for a decent computer? (value but nearer to end) Laptop or tower if that's still a thang. |

My laptop is taking its time to load or find the right page on bookies' sites only despite clearing cache regularly. This has never happen before. I do not think it's software update being Chrome.

If one's computer has been ok until just recently it might not be your computer unless one's computer is very old with small storage capacity or cache is seldom cleared; if so try clearing cache. Usually slowness at a specific time would coincide with new/mega users esp if neighbours are using the same provider or if sharing wifi with others in the same household eg children back from school are playing computer games. Sometimes bookies could have updated their software not wholly compatible with your browser.
I switched over to Chromebook a few years ago; I'm using a Lenovo Chromebook; my spare one is an Acer/maybe Asus Chromebook. I like Chromebook because it does not constantly pester me to update like Windows do; I find Chrome is quicker. It's between £350 (i3) / £500 (i5/i7) if bought at the right time eg on offer or end of the line. On 2nd thought I may use my spare laptop to ascertain what'd be causing the sudden slowness. |

I think my 4pm issue is not just local to me, but I think it's to do with how the tinternet is managed, my prev network provider offered to cancel my contract early foc, I did and got a cheaper phone deal and got in home WiFi, the WiFi is cheap and throtled, the new mobile provider is a piggy backer, just cheaper, the same issue persists after 4pm it's gash, peeps more on fones, schools out, ect ect.
Used to use Dell back in the day, good kit, you say good seller, is that just based on your recent purchase? Any eye deer where it's refurbed? Bought a refurbed off of argos, nowt but trouble, cost a fortune too. What about a tower, do I not need one? Tower and desk v laptop, prob ano brainer. How much Internet do I really need? What's the bear min speed ect? |

tower fine if you have a desk in situ..laptop can be used anywhere..internet you need 50mb if you are dowmloading stuff..10mb would suffice for bf..as long as its stable.

I've no qualms buying refurbished items from Currys eg smart tv, magic ipad keyboard, laptops eg Lenovo and Asus. They are usually "returned" items (and not used) advertised on Ebay; it must be Curry's refurbished (not private seller) with a 12 month warranty. I've never bought anything refurbished from Argos.
From experience I find Virginmedia is the best broadband provider. I managed to get M500 fibre broadband for £27 per month on an 18-month promotion (normal is £35). I'm not sure what speed however, anything from 200Mbps, but the key is the time and number of users at the same time eg playing computer games on oled tv uses a lot of broadband. But, do not get a mobile hub (portable wifi); a fibre broadband is significantly more reliable and quicker esp if using ethernet (a cable from the hub to your laptop/computer). |
