His book " Calling the Horses" is a great read if you can get a copy.

Horse Racing was never quite the same when Peter retired.

Does he mention the person who gave him pricewise odds at 8.30am every Saturday morning   

..... I can actually remember when pricewise horses were guarenteed in the offices up untill about 10am, only for small stakes if i recall. ( 1980s / 90s ).

I used to give Sir Peter all pricewise odds before breakfast , he was a small punter but loved to nick the odds , remarkably similar profile to Trevor Hemmings.

DID has had many fantastic castaways. Loved Spike Milligan's luxury (a Barclaycard)

Coincidentally another punter's mentioned and what a strike rate Spike had for a small player.

Tattcorner-Not sure about Lester being on DID. From memory I recall a report that Scobie Breasley had been on during a season (early sixties), when he and Lester were neck and neck in the Title Race.It was reported that Scobie asked for the song 'It Had To Be You' and as the programm was going out Lester rode a winner to pip him for the Title. I think I read this in the Daily Express probably written by Sir Peter.

Can't find anything about Lester being on DID but did come across this:

Before Cheltenham festival previews became 10 a penny, O’Sullevan appeared at one in 1998 at Chipping Norton theatre. He was very quiet mostly while a well lubricated David Nicholson ruled the roost!
At the end, for The Festival Naps, Peter just said get on Christy Roche’s for The Bumper….that’s all I’m saying. Despite further questioning Peter would not name the horse….in those days Irish novices & bumper horses were mystical beasts for UK enthusiasts.
It turned out to be Joe Mac backed to about “bottle” favourite only to get touched off by a horse ridden by a certain Mr R. Walsh, amateur. His first festival winner…. Alexander Banquet.  Time heals, I suppose!

Thanks for this, for some reason I never realised he had done DiDs, his choices not really my cup of tea apart from Edith Piaf - Non, Je ne regrette rien. I met Sir Peter in 1989 at Cheltenham when he was there for a book signing for Calling the Horses (which he personalized with a message including my name and year as it was a 1st edition print).  We stood together and watched Bradbury Star beat Chatham in a hurdle race at the end of the day and he was quite happy to chat about the race and I got the impression we had both backed the winner.

Piaf was a good choice, but my favourite was Brubeck's 'Take Five'.
