Not a wind up and ask you as like myself we both deal with them. It's a genuine letter which means my BF days are over. Let me know and I will send you the context of the letter.

depositing and withdrawing and depositing 4 figs is 100% going to lead to a bank taking notice.

I'm confused. Steve and stewyb are the 2 biggest winners on Betfair (or so we're led to believe) and Barclays have decided you will no longer be able to withdraw your substantial winnings back to your Barclays account? I must be missing something?

I think it went something along the lines of 'We are a responsible company, regulated by the FCA, and are duty bound to identify compulsive behaviour which may be detrimental to your mental health. We shall be suspending any deposits to gambling businesses with immediate effect and encourage you to seek help for NPD.'

Was it? Or did they think he was money-laundering, or was it straightforward Farage-style debanking?

Barclays allow you to block/limit payments to gambling companies but I can't find anything online that suggests it's not your decision.

Looks like Stewy B has been withdrawing far too much for comfort from his Barclays account to Betfair.

loads of bookies have had bank account closed so wouldn't be a surprise although this may be more nature of spend eg. "Betfair £1000 a month Asda £50 a month."
By:

When: 24 Apr 24 14:04
The other issue with bookies is a lot of them were running ordinary bank accounts as business accounts in order to avoid bank charges.

Long story short they have associated it with money laundering which I play no part of or they would have closed my account.

Amazingly I looked at the back of the letter today and they know all about my Post Office account, telling me that's a 10k limit. Why would they know I had A PO account??

Barclays don't run the PO.

post office is used by money launderers to accept cash deposits, so if you have been moving money from post office to barclays and then depositing it in betfair and then withdrawing (layering), you couldn't possibly imitate money laundering any better.

I should add that I have two accounts and when I say PO my other account is with the co op bank. I will phone to see exactly what is going on.

I can only pay into my co-op account by the post office as there is not a branch in Aberdeen.
