Reported 3000 drop on last year. I was in the Earl of Derby to my eye it was way more than that backed up by walking around in comfort. Nowhere near Ladies present this year.
The price to get in to a race meeting in general is a rip off. Plus the price of food & beverages in embarrassing. I only go to meetings nowadays when I get in free with my Racing TV freebies.

Already forgotten what it was to get in Thursday but it was nothing like 80 quid .,for that you got a racecourse with facilities right up there with the best and a top class days racing.

I paid £85 on the Thurs and £135 on Fri. I have attended for the last 5 years or maybe more. Thats in the Earl of Derby for that you get a reserved seat and access to bars that in previous years were been a nightmare absolutely packed. This year not so. The upper bar is under a canvas roof and beyond cold when the weather is poor. Had to smile when I noted a bottle of still water was £3.50 in one place on the course. In previous years they have got away with it but not this year. Reporting only a 3k drop is fanciful.

The odd thing about the 82 World Cup is the 2nd round was done on a round robin basis it was west Germany Spain and England
Regarding the Ben Nevis national i was only talking about it yesterday it seems unbelievable now but the public were encouraged to walk the course in the morning of the race in those days and many did,we obviously went to beeches brook like everyone else and bumped into Alan minter who was happy to give us his time came over as a really decent lad.

In the group stages Italy failed to win a single game against Poland,Peru and Cameroon yet went on to win the World Cup.

Went Thursday ,have done for 20 years, entrance seemed dearer 31 quid, always seemed around 20ish quid.
But pints were 7.50,which was 10p more than chelt,7.40.
They were usually cheaper than chelt.
Given they make 6 quid a pint, seems daft charging 31,get more in would surely be more profitable.
They could do a 25quid price with proof of a Merseyside address.or the Doncaster free pint and a pie with entrance fee.
Once attendance drops, then like all supply and demand, adjust to suit,or dig in believe, let’s max out on those that come.but is this a downward spiral.

This guff about comparing Racecourse entry to a visit to the Theatre or a Premier league match is so disingenuous.Everyone knows how enmeshed gambling is with going racing and would factor in a punting kitty as an essential part of the day out, something which doesn't apply to the other two examples.

Isleham. 7 races x 4 mins is 28 mins of sport ,not 90 mins, plus a captive audience who spends money in between.the footy and theatre has a 15 min spend break.racing has 6 x 25 mins spend breaks.

Enjoyed going on Thursday - can walk down as far as the third last which is not possible on such as Becher's day. Refrained from purchasing any food, helped by stuffing myself with a smelly Fray Bentos pie just before the leaving house which unfortunately made me thirsty enough to succumb to 2 x7.50 pints inside. Quality card no doubt helped by the longer than usual gap from Cheltenham but I still much preferred it when you got 4,000 in on the Thursday and 6,000 on the Friday.

What’s happened this year, Every year they increase cost, not really affecting attendance,so max out the profit.but they ve over done it and lost out.
Supply and demand, trouble is,dropping a couple of quid might not reverse it,so then they look to milk those who do bother.which will compound the decline.
They just need clever pricing, clever marketing,
Why try and get an extra fiver on admittance, when they make that on 1 pint.
Sell it cheap, pile it high .
