Thanks.
So it’s to provide the safest ground possible for the horses. Fair enough. Still gonna be mighty slippy in them blue suede shoes for u facts! |

Stopping up to 3 million footy fans (potential horse racing fans) from watching the race may lead to lowest ever viewing figures imo.
Maybe try 2pm start next year. |

Always used to be around 4pm I think? It's only recently that the off-time was moved to later.

3.50 is the time I remember so football fans could watch at half time when all clubs played on Saturday afternoon's at 3pm kick off time.

I always thought that they have been putting back the starting time for as long as they dare in order to get as much stake money in from as many punters as possible. Delaying the start time alows more money for the online bookies ...... or am I being a bit cynical?

They delayed it to avoid a clash with football but have decided to be brave and let the football worry about how many are watching this year.

Have enjoyed this season cobs101, I was seriously thinking of having a large bet on us going down early doors.
Sure is was even earlier and worse clash years ago, have defo been in grounds that have announced the result at half time (once wrongly pre internet). |

Always around 3:15 in the 70s.

Main reason it’s 4pm
Itv don’t want it eating into ant and dec time. Plus punters more skint by 5/6 race 4pm seems a good time. Half time at footy, |
