Notably absent from the headlines -only one winner in last 50 or so rides.  Is he not the same jockey he was last year when he was banging in the winners hand over fist -gaining experience all the time. is there any known reason for why he's not getting viable mounts in the same number ?

racing media big up more the next lester piuggots than they do the next arkle, ride a few winners ,good pr machine everyone puts you up on their fancied runners claiming a few lbs then the next new lester piggot comes along, till the next one rinse and repeat.watson, davis, fallon etc etc

Some trainers are very keen to book the latest hot claiming rider for a plot horse in a handicap so the best claimer around gets better than average rides-until they lose the claim-when they are in the same pool as every other jockey. Billy is still third in the 2024 Jockey list so not that bad for a teenager. The last favourite he rode was on April 1.

and as suggested above, he's now probably receiving a few more of those rides where he has 'interesting' instructions from the trainers...

Jockey fandom is the most overrated activity in the sporting universe.

closing in on 200 winners this kid might even give Murphy a run for his money next flat turf season
hopefully Appleby gives him some good onex to ride as well... Cool
