I thought I'd look back at this wonderful winning horse's first two runs - available on the SL historical replays - to see how a horse destined for greatness starts out, how it is ridden and how it developes its potential.
Blew me away how good this horse looked, particularly carrying a penalty second time out.
Just floated over the ground and Buick never once touched it with his whip, until a minor tap to keep it straight late on in his second run/win. Basically won hands and heels twice under firm but hugely considerate rides.
What must it be like to be aboard one like this knowing how brilliant the horse is?
