I must admit I can’t remember the last time I looked forward to the turf season so much but what a damp squib of a start two days at dony then nothing till next Saturday, surely they can do better than that.

I agree jimnast but a lot to look forward for the coming months

Yes form once it kicks in craven, guineas,Chester,York,Epsom, royal ascot,July meeting, king George, goodwood,York,Doncaster, then loads of Newmarket fixtures which I’ve gone dizzy keeping up with plus the 2nd best of them all the western meeting then champions day then Dundalk starts.

You can’t beat it jimnast….the skylark will be out shortly then the summer weather top meeting as you highlighted….bring it on….
Unfortunately for some the multi coloured haired one and company are killing the enjoyment….GC….you couldn’t make it up….Kim Jong rule ffs….. |

It does seem strange that Doncaster is not followed by other good flat meetings in the next week, particularly over the Easter weekend. Just Newcastle on Good Friday. today has the look of a lottery about it to me though. The first race, the Doncaster mile, is the only one that looks solvable.
By:
I reckon the going is to be much softer than usual -there's rain forecast in Yorkshire just about everyday for the next fortnight
By:
Last year it’s as bad a ground as I’ve ever seen at Doncaster
By:
Yep and what won the first jimnast….and she’s back…
By:
Poor race planning regarding the new season..
Good Friday at Newcastle…..mmm |

Lads the real flat season started last Monday the 18th at the Curragh. It was a great days racing on heavy ground.

I just want to congratulate you one the discipline and resolution you have shown in the build-up to this momentous new start.
A lesser man without your steely resolve would probably have done his bollix guessing on the All-Weather. ![]() ![]() |

previous losses now history? Clean slate. Fresh start (Number 4,783). This time is bound to be different! |
By:
Anyone making a book as to how long the 2.5K lasts? Will the losses from the inevitable multiple bets not on flat turf be counted Quixall?
By:
F4rty has the discipline of a 7 year old with ADHD and tourettes (ffs!) that has just eaten five tubes of Smarties washed down with a litre of Sunny Delight!
By:
But this will be his year.
![]() |
By:
Also Quixall are you going to post the percentage of your £50 split on win and place and the prices, pointless exercise otherwise?
By:
f4rty -13,867 pts since 2023
tobymugs still +862 lsp arny wun winner. |
By:
2% of the tank Cagliari which is £2,500 = £50…….obviously win and place would be split
I will post Pre….. Looking forward to a decent year.. Hunting around for poor value elsewhere in the lay and place… TM having his usual….. |
By:
Why do I believe everything the management types
By:
Obviously I mean the percentage of the £50 stake Quixall as stated?
By:
Probably 50% Cagliari……
By:
Depends on the price,if it’s one I fancy for a certain place but iffy for the win then probably 80-20…..90-10 who knows…

Why do I believe everything the management types Zzzz |
By:
At last Quixall but you need to post the percentage when you place the bets otherwise pointless for running P & L!!
By:
Jimnast, I was going to post exactly as you did at 7.59. It may be age and a hatred of racing in rain and cold. Or it may be my disillusion with NH racing. Or the particular portfolio of decent ante-post bets I have but I am as excited as I can recall that the flat is about to start. I picture myself wandering up to the Rowley Mile in a few weeks with sunshine and a gentle breeze (hopefully) ready for 3 days of top class racing. The Craven has now become my 2nd favourite meeting after RA. I'll be the one on the Members Lawn with a bottle of Moet and a panama hat (hopefully again!!). Good luck fot the season.

Skylarks tell you it’s craven time DP…
By:
Good morning Donegal
I think with the craven as it’s not really a meeting for punting but it’s a time we know what lies ahead and what’s gone behind us, Hopefully the weather is good enough for the Moët and the Panama. Come to think of it Moët is always a good idea regardless of the weather. |
By:
Morning Jimnast. Quite agree. On all points you make, especially Moet! When my friends ask me why I love the meeting (since I retired in 2015 at least) I tell them I backed a filly trained by William Haggas at 5/4 in a mile maiden in 2018. She was beaten in a photo by a 14/1 shot who never won another race. 5 1/2 months later the same filly was a very unlucky 2nd to a top class Arc de Triopmhe winner in Enable. Sea of Class was the horse. It is that chance of seeing the swan whilst they are "ugly ducklings" that I love.
