if they lose you lose £10 but you have contributed to someone else's commission by having the £10 bet in the first place...
so without your bet they wouldn't have got any commission...
i think retained commission is 50% of the commission the other person gets deducted from his winnings...
if t's not the above scenario it's pretty close to that anyway.
say you back Rangers at 1.7 stewart for £10...if they win you win £7...if they lose you lose £10 but you have contributed to someone else's commission by having the £10 bet in the first place...so without your bet they wouldn't have got any commi
so i think you get 10p as retained commission on your account...
it's basically them giving you 'credit' for having the bet in the first place stewart.
other person wins the £10 from you...say they pay 2% comm..that's 20p...so i think you get 10p as retained commission on your account...it's basically them giving you 'credit' for having the bet in the first place stewart.
Hibby, I think you are talking about 'Implied commission' which is an assumed value of commission you would have paid on a losing market. It is used to calculate 'Total commission' when working out Premium Charge etc.
Retained commission I think is the maximum amount of commission you could pay on a partly settled market.

When BF part-settle a market, they cannot charge you commission on the runner(s) they settle (if they are winners) as they don't know if you will also have losers in the market which will reduce your overall winnings and hence commission charged. Also - if you're betting on Aus markets which are on the old base rate minus betfair points discount model - they don't know your commission rate at market settlement time
So what they do is every time they settle winners, they put 5% (I think) of the winnings in a "retained commission" bucket, which acts like exposure - it's not deducted on your statement but you cannot use it for betting or withdraw it.
Then when the market settles finally, you get charged commission on your overall winnings and the retained commission is released.
I think jamee here is right. When BF part-settle a market, they cannot charge you commission on the runner(s) they settle (if they are winners) as they don't know if you will also have losers in the market which will reduce your overall winnings and h
