The one they left in looked the weakest of their entries. Tbf the race has disintegrated a little bit. It's worth £40k this year and that looks a little excessive for whats left in.

Good spot OP. Sounds like she'll know her job. Are you taking the 5/2?

Surprised to see Bill Turners at 25-1 this used to be his Derby.

Amy Murphy just had an impressive 2yo in france . She'll know the score with her filly , Theatrically

Don't think Bill Turner has had a 2yo winner for the last 5 seasons , so long gone are those days.

WP
No, I expected them to run more than 1 of the 5. |

generally speaking, i really look forward to the brocklesby each year to kick start the flat season, however this years line up looks one of the weakest ever. very disappointed!
|

tbh i think the jolly (mystical elegance) is the most likely winner given the connections/pedigree but can i get involved or excited over odds as skinny as 2/1? not for me. the most interesting thing i can take from the race is david evans booking rossa ryan to ride roysdelight - might be worth a small play but will see what the price is on the day, but looks a shrewd jockey booking for a yard who likes a gamble. the betting market will be more interesting than the race itself imo

How do you judge weak or strong in this particular race, none of which have seen a racecourse…..the race is similar every year full of moderate yards…
|

By:
to be fair its a long season if you think 5 of your 2 yr olds need heavy ground, obviously the selected one been going gliding through the swamp at home like a HIPPO

A very good winner last year, Persian Force, went on to have a good season.
|

By:
Time must fly by for you, GH, think that was 2 years ago.
Last year's renewal wasn't great, maybe the ground took its toll on some of them, though a few did eventually win. |
|
By:
You are right George just checked, can't believe it is 2 years ago
|
|
By:
Interestingly, the two best horses to come out of last year's renewal finished 13th and 14th - Loaded Gun (OR 80) and Sankari (85 peak OR) - maybe the fact they didn't end having a slog in the ground did them a favour.

First day at school as well, a big test for 2 year olds in that ground, this early in the season.
First to last might be a fair spread |

The fav will be ready to run for its life been been trained to the minute for this.

Their one last year, was also trained for the race I would guess, didn't win though. Its all just guess work imho
|
|
By:
Granted it is one that you know won't be a gallop short
|
|
By:
It looked last year that Stott made his ground up too soon in the conditions and paid the price for that late on, though that's easy to say in hindsight, and as people commented at the time, the horse didn't look straightforward, and time has probably shown they were right.

Nobody, including trainers, owners, jockey, God will have a clue on the winner of this race. Anyone doing anything other than watching it for the future is a plonker.

Was watching Aus racing this morning in the wee hours, a plethora of Gp1's ensued, including a $5m 2yo race, the Golden Slipper won in tenacious style by lady of camelot trained by the mercurious Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott partnership, her 8th Slipper and
her 160th gp1 or close to it, not bad for a Sheila. a couple of things brought me to comment here, I was going to rubbish the Brocklesby a few days previous, had made a draft but thought it was harsh, was going to rubish low grade two year old racing in the UK in general and suggest they were best avoided, heads and noses, out wide, trapped on fence, get going too late ect ect and suggest punters look elsewhere for thar looosers, but what irks more is the general coverage of UK racing, it needs to improve, but it's the quality as well, it's living in the past, hopefully this flat season we can see a few stars emerge, we need emm. Was very impressed with the Aus coverage, the product is miles better than uk, starting with the parade ring or mounting yard as they call it, Every horse looked at and from at least two angles,in this race the Slipper all horses were being double handled in the parade, there was this one big bloke hiding the horse on the inside, low and behold they switched to an overhead angle and from the side. I say every horse. Something our own racing media cannot do, even at Chelt ladt week we were treated to a selection of runners, quite whose selection is anyone's guess but they cannot and will not show every runner in the paddock for some reason. It's getting worse and needs addressed. Now that's me grumble out, what I did see in the Slipper was a very nice oss called Traffic Warden, put it in your note books, needs a bit further but looks a good un. As for the Brocklesby, quite like the sound of Bob the bandit, 25pe/w. |

Money talks????? In a race like this it would take much money to 'talk'. The only semblance of rationality to try and identify the winner of this is looking at them in the paddock. Even then with 15 first time out 2yo's you're guessing.
|
|
By:
sorry 'wouldn't take much money to talk'

Hopefully Ken will be in the paddock to find us the winner .
