Because I havent needed it before I wasnt sure, thats what I was going to do, sweep it in dry as it sounded the easiest way. Will it matter if rain gets in the gaps before renewing. ? |
|

Sweeping in won’t mark the paving but if you can key it then it will seal it…

... Ok Thanks, more worried about the rain getting in the exposed gaps although not much forrcast here luckily.

Is kiln dried sand not more for monoblock? , to allow water to soak through and prevent run off, which is often mentioned on planning.
It ain't cheap but the product I hear mentioned by so called paving pros is Sika, particularly if it's sandstone pavers, it's outside grout , but no reason traditional methods won't work, depends how good a finish you want.Every situation is different. |

I was on holiday, Glasgow, got back late last night!
Sweeping dry sand and cement in then giving it a light spray/soak doesn’t work very well. It will be out again the next time you jet wash it. Either mix a bit of mortar yourself and put it in with a pointing trowel, or as others have said get a proper sweep in product. The Sika stuff is fantastic. It’s £30/40 a box but it’s foolproof. You just soak the area with a hose and brush it in. You can’t over wet the area, the more water the better. If you’ve just got a few small patches to repair then the sand and cement mix would do. Regarding the Sika product. I did a 100m2+ patio for a builder mate during lockdown. It would’ve took me the best part of a week to point it all up once it was laid. It took a day using that stuff and the finish was brilliant. |

Cheers Kenbo., I have seen Sika on youtube, looks good but a bit dear and a bit ott for my little patio, got the sand and cement now so will just use that and hope for the best. The patio wont be cleaned for a good while now.
