Ran excellently, no doubt about it, but to my eyes he looked like he had a really hard race there. Could he have left his National chances out there today?

Had a hard race at Cheltenham last year before it won the grand national, much shorter price now than it was an hour ago though.

I'd agree to a point but for me there's a big difference between winning an Ultima off 146 and running 3rd in a really deep Gold Cup.

Time will tell.

Watching the end of the Gold Cup again he's going up and down on the spot after the last. That's a tough race for him to bounce back from.

He has had little racing this year so maybe that will help. Always going to be tougher the year after winning but I'm sure they will be delighted by todays run, which was a great effort and will be hopeful he can do it again at Aintree.

We should bring that thread back up Tom , the one with so much negativity towards Corach's trainer.

He was going up and down on the spot and the jock wasn't sparing him, I actually had another look to count the strikes, there is a chance though that he may well have been going up and down on the spot because he had decided he had done enough for today, it did have that kind of look about it... that is him after all.

Anyone else think the JP horse showed up well for a spin in the National ( Capodanno ). ?

Yeah it will definitely have had a hard race.

It's strange sometimes doesn't effect them when they have a hard race and win, but has a massive effect if they've given everything and lose a bit like bravemansgame after last years gold cup. Like Meg Nicholls says seems to have broke his heart when he realised he wasn't the best around

I mean hard to say. Doubt it will win National after that. Awful prep imo

As I recall - and I backed him in both races so remember it well - Minnehoma had just as hard a race when he finished 4th.  I feel he'll enjoy the easier pace of the National and wouldn;t rule him out

Just over 4 weeks to get over today and Lucinda said he was 100% fit today.  As long as he didn't pick up any injury, you'd think he'd still have a fair chance wouldn't you?

you cant often say without been on inside but i got it right once regarding THAT,LL NEVER WIN ANOTHER RACE,BEATEN HALF TO DEATH IN GOLD CUP,
anyone old enough to remember that novice of hubbards in green colours running in gold cup, STRONG PROMISE or similar jock whipped the life out of it all the way up the straight trying to get it placed

Regarding Corach Rambler... Was struggling to keep up on the first circuit but came into his own as stamina came into play
I like the Russell/Scu  combo and trust they know what they're doing
Will be a backer if he turns up at Aintree, especially if double figures

it was in the same era /time of pipey/AP burying gloria victis in the gold cup and as to why the top boys go nowhere near gold cup with the novices these days and follow the pattern laid out, with far more alternative races available

I think he's (10 here) a very good price since loads of money has come for JP owned and Mullins' trained charges eg I Am Maximus and Limerick Lady. I still remember bookies' pundits "unfriendliness" towards Tiger Roll at the same position. Nevertheless, the competition is tougher in this renewal, but 9/1 represents good value to me.

I'm a backer at the price here as well
If he doesn't fall, brought down... Can't see it being out of the frame

Could he be supplemented for the Ayr Gold Cup next saturday? He UR his rider at the 1st.

I was in disbelief when the commentator said last year's winner had unsitted his jockey at the 1st.

Corach unseated then fell at next fence or so, was a heavy fall, looked bad, not sure if  something happened with tack or what it was but way it went was as bad as it gets.
Doubt it will be running at Ayr or anywhere else anytime soon imo.
