Not a race for the faint hearted, but - Mr Freedom – has a sporting chance of hitting the frame.
As timeform put it “he’s a really likeable sort”. From a small stable was transferred into Sheena West yard from Mick Channon. To have called his form for the Channon yard indifferent would have been generous. Anyway he was transformed by the attention he received at the smaller establishment running up a hat-trick in juvenile hurdles as well as a win back on the flat and over hurdles.

Ran in the Juvenile Handicap here at last years festival off a rating of 120. Was unconsidered at 40/1 but ran a fine race in 5th and was unlucky not to finish closer his saddle slipping early in the race, was making ground on the outside of the field when bumped  causing his jockey to lose his irons and being struck into, yet still managed to recover and run on into 5th. He ran up a hat-trick from his favourable mark on the flat, and has been most consistent back over hurdles placed numerous times and finally getting his head in front LTO at Plumpton the 5lb penalty allowing him to squeeze into the bottom of the handicap.

Well suited by a strongly run race and has run well here and on a soft surface has a good chance of yet again hitting the frame in this most competitive event. Has been backed into 28/1 from 40/1 this morning.

I'm still stinging from Pied Piper getting beat last year.

Anyone offering odds on a JP 1-2-3 this time round?

A really interesting left field selection Martin K, (always read your interesting posts), but although may run into a place 5/6, i really can't see it troubling the classier horses. Think his Sandown run when falling at the last showed he won't be good enough to trouble the main contenders, love Sheila Lewis and was thrilled to see Straw Fan Jack run such a great race yesterday, good luck but not for me.

I posted this a couple of weeks ago, Elliott didn't run him in CH but does look like he's been laid out for the County hurdle, where despite 12 stone i still think has a really good EW chance again, around 20 on here and 16/1 1st 5 with 356.

With all the uncertainty surrounding Constitution Hills participation and well being, if were to run, is it not now the time to look for a speculative punt on the race? If he doesn't run State Man could well be the proverbial good thing but no price for the average punter like me.
Gordon Elliott still has Irish Point in the race but really it looks a stayer but what about his forgotten horse Pied Piper, 2nd in the County hurdle last year, just touched off carrying 11-13, gets an extra 1lb this year a really tough task. Has never btn State Man but got within 6 1/2 lengths of him in last years Irish CH with Honeysuckle and Vauban separating them. Got to 11 lengths of him on only run this season after weakening after the last.
If it comes up heavy on the day, well he's unbeaten on flat and jumps and with a Cheltenham record off 1312, also btn under a length on soft in the Cesarewitch, i feel he could at least run into a place and if State Man came unstuck well who knows.

Still think he would have got placed in CH.

did a write up but it dissapeared and cant be arshed to write it out again so will put em on this thread for what its worth ,favoir  has previous here and could go close again of a similar mark with the good claimer taking off 5 and afadil  looks like a plan to me a 5yo and jwon last timme and scrapes in here off a basement mark could fall out the back of the telly  but the yard had a winner yesterday and know how to ready one and a big price around 40/1  ew good luck lads .

good luck martin k ,this is a mine field but summits got to win and more plots than a cia meeting looking through the race you can make a case for plenty but i like couple here and it may not be original but favoir from a yard in good form and have history in this won it last year off 134  and 2 pound higher today but the good claimer takes off 3 pound just nutted on the line in last weeks imp cup a quick turnout could be significant around 10/1 ish in have had a crack . i like a few cracks of the whip in these types of races and i cant get away from nicholls AFADIL  who is a pound out of the handicap and around 50/1 but has decent form and it looks like a plan to me won last time and just scraped in at the foot of the weights today and as 5 yo there could be a lot more to come a freddie gingel rides and claims 5 pound could fall out the back of the telly but is with the champion trainer and they had a winner yesterday.

Big ride for Harry Skelton at 2.10. If he does win, Townend will need one himself to be the top jockey. Townend has more seconds.

Last years 1-2 hold sound claims again.

Level stake on both and a top 3 place on Pied Piper at 6.0

Good Luck.
