Used to go for all 4 days, went about 10 years on the spin. Used to have a great time. The fish and chip van was excellent inside the course and some other food venues werent crazy prices, but over the 10 years you could really see cost shooting up.
Last time was 6 years ago.
Even then the costs started to get crazy, accommodation difficult to find and becoming exorbitant. The second to last time there was 3 of us and the house we stayed in was great, excellent location. Think for the 4 nights it was about £1200-£1400. The owner then said the following year it was £3k. We stayed elsewhere.
With attendances down, hopefully costs may start to fall.

they will shoot them selves in the foot ,it wont affect the wealthy but it will have a big impact on the average working man ie the bread and butter that is the root core of the game , the 1st time festival visitor in all likelhood wont come back after he has counted the costs especially if he has done his dough with the books on course . on itv yesterday one of the presenters olly bell said attendances are down ......£20 to park £85 to get in and full price for kids, £7.50 a pint god knows how much for grub plus the travelling expenses attendances down? i cant understand why!

I still go Royal Ascot but refuse to pay £115 for a bottle of Veuve, that is just pure rip off, York is a better day out, go first class, hotel opposite for a drink, great viewing

Do not give them your hard-earned money. Spend it on something worthwhile. Least, you can view the races on TV.
When the people start to decline, they will have to adjust like any business. They are just cashing in for shareholders while they can.

Longchamp on non-Arc days (i.e. Guineas and Arc trial meetings) 20 euros, sit anywhere, good views, no large crowds, no queues and pricing at an acceptable level.

Sparrow, go in May for the guineas meeting, i was there last year for Blue Rose Cen. Book in advance with a cheap flight, stay overnight and enjoy one of Europe's best cities.

Supply and demand. A day racing lasts much longer than a footie match (Man U Arsenal start at £185 and go up from there) and as long as a pop concert that can cost over £100. Seems par for the course! If crowds decline, no doubt the price will too.

I'm not a Spring Chicken myself, but thankfully healthy and able to travel freely and often. Sadly, the poster Happysandwich that came to several meetings with us in previous years, is not able to these days. Good luck.

foyles war..went Tues. it was 30 quid to park....in a muddy field which now is fckd...Jockey club racecourses don`t care. Today you need to prebook to park or take public transport..Just swerve it,,Have you tried public transport,,,you are herded into cattletrucks by the waffen ss..The irish young teams go to Benidorm and Tenerife..it is one big rip off...the racing isn`t that good either. Jump racing needs an undefeated champion...and whats ITV racing solutions .encourage more students. The golden age of racing is over...affordability checks owners over 60 and as for the so called owners group what do they actually own? rant over...on weds I went to a gastro pub free wifi and about 6 people in watching racing on their phones and laptops...total cost including food drink and transport 30 notes...and a far better racing experience...

Correct. I went on Tuesday last year, great experience without question and although my costs were reduced as i stayed in a Bristol hotel, i totally support those that say it's too expensive. This year, i flew from München to Gatwick, then on to Barcelona a few days later. The flights were less cost than what i spent last year in one day, and i have been sitting in warmth on a hotel balcony watching on ITV.
