We might be getting to see a new superstar in Ballyburn and another in Fact to File. We've got two very deep, highly competitive handicaps, and one of the most competitive looking champion bumpers for years. The Champion Chase looks weak, but it's always a pleasure to see good 2-mile chasers going at it. So I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

It's certainly not got the same buzz it usually has. Fair play to Mullins as he is brilliant but it's not good for racing as in my opinion if Lossiemouth was in any other stable she would have been in the champion hurdle yesterday and would have been a decent contest. Maybe Hendersons plight and the cross country off might make some people think about running their horses more in other races throughout the year?
You can certainly see why Nicholls skips the festival with a lot of horses to take advantage of easier targets earlier and then later. |

all you,ll see with ballyburn is what he,s already done in ire minus the horse that finished 2nd to it last time,if he,s a superstar youve already seen it,and the 2 milers will be plodding round on heavy ground
By:
I can certainly understand why people wouldn't be as excited as for some days in the past.

Worst Cheltenham ever for various reasons. The Irish domination is getting stronger year after year. And will continue as such. I won't be backing ANY British trained horses over the next 3 days. The festival as we knew it is practically dead. An Irish benefit meeting now.

i can sit the odds on races out and throw some darts at the 2 big handicaps no problem, and enjoy watching races without a bet but cant say i,m excited about ch chase and the 2 novice races, like watching formulea one need a few fallers to make in interesting

I couldn't agree more, Slickster. I only wonder why the British trainers KNOW they've no chance? Supposedly the pinnacle of the sport & they don't bother turning up.

4mm more rain tomorrow and fri according to COC ,must make corach rambler a doubtful runner in gold cup, shiskin doubtful ? ,
By:
Clearly shishkin will not run.

HEWICK must also be a doubt, even BMG,could cut up badly

I was totally underwhelmed yesterday and again this morning. I wont make the same mistake again backing GB horses!

Willie getting to 100 Festival winners will be a monumental achievement. Just Like Lance's 7 & Flo Jo's World Record.

oooff
can think what you mean by that.... |
By:
but what does it matter to us ?
whether he trains 1,2,300 ? |
By:
It matters because lack of competetion will be the death of any sport.
By:
yeh but your celebrating the fact 2 posts back, just leaves me cold like jockey,s championship etc, just a numbers game
By:
im not sure he was celebrating 1TP...
By:
I'm pretty sure he wasn't celebrating the fact 1tp!
By:
unless its corporate from a sporting/punting point of view cant really see the point in going to chelt anymore, can use the money to go to better more competitve meetings like aintree and on the flat probably

Cannot wait until it's all over, roll on March 23rd for the Brocklesby imo
By:
Today apart from Brown Advisory Novices chase, struggling to get excited about any of the other races. Just a few bets on the Coral Cup I suppose, unless Bet365 put a superboost up to match the evens on State Man yesterday.
By:
is 1/3 the same as 1/2?
By:
Ballyburn evens with 365 will perk it up a bit

Bad week so far even for the ardent festival supporters.
By:
I can't remember a more subdued and less interesting Day 1 than yesterday. Today looks even worse but who knows, maybe something will spark the week.

Going down hill worryingly fast.
Doubt there will be many walks up attending with the weather and the small fields. |

Such a shame that members of the trans community don't have to follow the example of the horses that is GELDING! That would put a stop to this nonsense. Would be nice to just enjoy sport without all the morons out to ruin it.
