...why does anyone pay for this? It's cheap, mics not working, people dribbllng on and fading out, not being able to talk about a horse in the first place, camera work shoddy. I'd be insulting people on app schemes to say it looks like its put together by them. I don't care about comparisons with atr or sky racing whatever I'm just saying this is cheap tv that shouldn't be paid for!

I get it cheap and sometimes turn it on for the odd decent race (with the sound off, I never listen to comms and pundits).

But Most of the time now I just watch the betfair live stream.

it's worth every penny just to hear Donn Maclean making a fool of himself every time he is on...

couldn't understand why the Elliot horse was a big drifter...

and obviously it gets pulled up...

an utterly clueless individual with nothing to say except everyone in horse racing is a wonderful human being.

I'm not  a waffle man and have the sound down for sports generally. getting someone to waffle is easy - look at YouTube ffs but getting them to waffle, with a working microphone and someone in the sound studio that knows what they are doing is a must for anyone paying for something. The lack of defenders is telling as I suspect everyone knows its cheap tv ripping people off but they don't seem to care. There really should be a service that is just pics and prices and no waffle, cheap as, it could be run by a man in his garage as opposed to looking like its a man in a garage that has invited his mates round and spent thousands on a good camera but doesn't know how to work it.

Why does anyone pay for this? It doesn't have Plunkett on.

you don't even need the prices spyker...

pics from the track using the racecourse commentator is all it needs...

all this needing 'experts' (yes i know it's laughable) to take us through meetings is just farcical imv...

if it was just pics from racecourses and racecourse commentators i'd probably get it tbh.

I happily pay for RTV and would not watch ITV if they paid me. My only gripe is lack of coverage of the horses in the winners enclosure on days with three meetings but that is the only thing I miss from my days on course.

Racing UK, not as good as it was a few years ago... ITV just about able to watch it, I want to like Ed Chamberlin but just too sycophantic. The Dunwoody feature quite good.

Sometimes it's good to reflect back to the bad old days when you'd be lucky to get a few live races one day a week and the alternative was either listening to some ridiculous sound commentary when the final furlong was designed to give every punter a run for their money or wait gorping at the tv to rely on some crappy teletext service for results whenever someone could be bothered typing.

After typing all that i suddenly feel blessed to have RUK , ITV and even Sky racing.

Good luck today all    Happy

Agree Hayden. We can watch every UK and Irish race live on RTV or Sky 7 days a week. You can't do that with Premier League which has 100 times more fans than racing.

True, although I much preferred the BBC coverage back in the day, there was a sort of gravitas about it.

Thinking of Extel though, Christmas 1982, staying with my parents, nipped into Lincoln specially to back a horse and listening on Extel commentary the last furlong lasted about 60secs and then commentator said "might be stewards enquiry" and the bookie made everybody wait for about 30mins until the weight in came through. I missed the last bus and had to walk about four miles through the snow to get back to Branston.

My pet hate about the Ed Chamberlin show is Oli Bell.
Is there anyone on television with more shifty eyes who so constantly looks/glances camera way to make sure he's being seen?
And his crawling during the lockdown on home tv where he had pictures on his side-table of the Queen and his guvnor Brough Scott.  Not to forget his "cool" guitar hung on the wall?

You don't have to watch the inane chatter. I have backed the first winner at Huntingdon which you would not see on ITV. Probably my only winner of the day!
