The first time in 30 years I will not be attending the festival.
Used to rent a house and for the 4 days during the 90's early 20's, then it went to 2 days and in the last few years it went down to the tuesday as its my favourite day. I refuse to pay £100 & £7.50 a pint for an afternoon out, i am now going on a 2 week cruise with my parents & 3 aunties in May, i would rather be at Cheltenham but we all have limits. |

The Cheltenham Executive completely fail to understood that "betting" is the main reason people attend, and where they have to factor in their spend. Everything else needs to subsidise this, the bookmakers in particular should be subsidising entrance costs, parking food/drink. The costs at Cheltenham are now extortionate, and it's no good comparing it to a day at Wimbledon/6 Nations or Football - because they don't involve a punters biggest spend on the day being their bets. I stopped going after covid when they started charging £20 for the privelege of parking your car in a muddy field - ridiculous. Do you know how much Cheltenham rakes in just for car parking over the 4 days - its around £1million.

Magic still burning, maybe not as brightly though, I don't attend stopped in 2005 .Do the trials day and Spring meeting..What was once a real gem has turned into a money making racket , but the horses are still magical. Wishing everyone a cracking weeks punting...

shocking ground most years now, irish dominated, too many races = thin fields & short priced favs, fences in the wrong place & too easy to jump
I've minimal interest in it now tbh |
|
By:
2017 was the last really decent year for ground
2010 when the fences were in the right place didn't mind 4 days when it started but last few years mares races duplicated, xcountry walkovers etc same winners being interviewed NOT FOR ME thanks |
|
By:
Foyles no point asking Slickly for a selection, next week is a bad time for him due his electric shock treatment starting tomorrow ,and he does be out of it for a few days after, come to think of it , hes out of it most of the year anyway..

The fact that the top 20 threads tonight are all about Cheltenham suggests the answer to the OP's question is no.
