I've watched him all season and hasn't had what he really needs - strong pace and test of stamina. His pedigree suggests staying is his game and he'll get it for the first time in the Albert Bartlett. He's got something to find on form with others in the field but is one with more improvement to come. He's been round Cheltenham so has course form and at 16/1 is good value each way and could be a springer on the day.
I've got this one down in my notebook as well Should get 4 places on the day His last but one run at Newbury suggested this longer trip ideal whereas his last run at Cheltenham not so much, imo, but still gonna have a go at the price
Another Johnny, good time Johnny, in the Kim Muir on Thursday will be one of my bets of the week... Easily won the Pertemps last year and looks like been plotted up by shrewd Tony Martin for this.... About 7/1 5 places

I flagged Johnnywho on here after his impressive point win. He must have had problems as O'Neill took an age to get him on the track. He won his bumper very well, but he hasn't gone on from that. Even his novice hurdle win hadn't got the same spark, and he has looked paceless in two runs since, albeit upped in class. I have a free bet on him for the Albert Bartlett, but he needs to find plenty of improvement to figure. Since the stable confirmed him as a runner his price has hardly moved. The jock is always a negative.

All fair points differentdrum. I just think that the stable have kept the powder dry in terms of running him over a longer trip and more improvement is to come. Dar I say if so the owner might be interested at a price. He's shown decent form at the track and hope springs eternal the week before the race. I'm not sure there's been too much activity in the albert bartlett market as a whole given doubts on what's running where in the other novice events.

He could end being my only bet in the race, so I could be cheering him on just as much as you.
I am not at all confident that Fry will make the right choice and run Gidleigh Park in this race. It should have been a pretty obvious target from the start of the season with, or without, Ballyburn in the Ballymore. It seems to me he might prefer running fifth in a Ballymore, rather than having every chance in the Albert Bartlett. The jock has been extremely negative about the longer race as well which doesn't help at all. You want someone on board who doesn't have those negatives. It has been said that jocks are the worst judges, and where this horse is concerned, Burke seems to fit that category. I think a lot of people think of Fry as a leading trainer, but after a good start, he has never really kicked on. He might look like he should still be at school, but he is know pushing 40. Less than 20 winners (3 from this horse) this season is not great. If you can't make a seemingly obvious decision with your best horse, what can you do? With much less to consider he has ended up dithering longer than Willie Mullins.

Agreed differentdrum regarding Gidleigh Park. I watched him at Cheltenham last time and he had Albert Bartlett written all over him the way he outstayed the field close home. Yes another one I'm interested in of Fry's is In Excelsis Deo who has not had the luck this season but is well in with Harpers Brook on one run. I think he'll end up with the grand annual which will be sharp enough on the old course - but he's entered in the Plate too.
