AI is so great it made him take out loans and wait for paydays to gamble.
I used to fear that AI would destroy the horse markets but racing is way too complex for that. An AI doesn't know that if a horse steams from 20 to 5 that it has more than a 4% chance to win.

EquinEdge uses AI to analyse data such as horse performance, track conditions, and jockey and trainer statistics. It crunches this to generate a metric, such as the probability that a particular horse will win. The hard work has been carried out by AI but gamblers must still decide how to interpret that metric - which is, as EquinEdge describes it, "the fun part."

Trying to get my head around this - so presumably the AI comes with the horse that is the most probable winner (what % of the time will this be the fav? Crazy) - "but gamblers must still decide".

Same as it ever was then?

No AI model incorporates price movements into the predictions. AI will say that a horse that drifted from 3 to 15 has a 25% chance to win, therefore the rest of the card is inaccurate too.
Or what if a fav steams from 2.5 to 1.7? AI will say 40% chance to win, easy lay! An then it wins by 6 lengths.

How could AI assist given horseracing is a game of many imponderables and outcomes? AL could facilitate potential users to minimise risk and increase accuracy minimally given certain metrics used eg provision applied.

Why complicate a sporty game when it ought to be recreational, and present bookies not operating as traditional bookies but turf "over-zealous forensic accountants" whose number 1 objective is to restrict or refuse punters a bet willy-nilly with impunity and redress.

I think this form of AI is to create an interest but no meaningful or profitable outcome as a horseracing punter. The build-your-odds punting is so complex and come with a fantasy chance of "winning" after a massive losing outlay. This form of punting is fobt related but not virtual.

If it can work out which bnt trainer will be pulling his horses in a race, or laying them, then I will believe in AI making predictions...but good luck with that one AI Laugh

or pick up on the jocks 'discussing' their race before a 4 runner on the AW...etc etc...

No betting, no horseracing for me, and I'll be long gone. The "grey" is only a last resort to keep up with my much-reduced interest.

Alternatives aplenty until horseracing in the UK is sorted out radically eg with much lesser bookie influence - the nemesis (blood-drainer) of UK horseracing presently.

Pink button exposure……

If AI were to accomplish one thing for bookies, it would be to try to anticipate starting prices and highlight the types of race where that was most difficult to achieve.
Report impossible123 March 6, 2024 12:20 PM GMT
What's that 'formoftheace'?
Report formoftheace March 6, 2024 12:28 PM GMT
Oh I think we all know the damage of the pink button…..
Report formoftheace March 6, 2024 12:29 PM GMT
Maybe expose pink button abuse
Report impossible123 March 6, 2024 12:51 PM GMT
If AI is used by bookies to further marginalise horseracing for recreational punters on top of their present deployment of school day-released traders in their trading rooms will be a further deterioration of the bookmaking industry.
