how much is gone GEORGE ? to the nearest monkey. |

Full bank job, sulk23, food bank for me tomoz.
Absolutely stunned by that because usually when the 'offender' is the one finishing off from off the pace and causes the interference but still finishes fptp, they take the view that he was going to win anyway. Jason Hart looked annoyed after crossing the line, so maybe he vented his frustration in the stewards room and convinced them to revise the placings. If they appeal, 1.01 they'll change it back imo, not that that's any consolation to IOS's backers. |

That undermines the Stewards' judgement, I agree George.

Approaching one furlong out, the winner, ISLE OF SPARK (USA), lugged sharply right-handed at the same time as FOX FLAME, placed second, edged left-handed for a stride, tightening NINTH LIFE (USA), unplaced; GOLDEN DELITE, unplaced, and TIGER BEETLE, leaving them tight for room between horses. After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
|
|
By:
was 1.10 when they went into the room
people were still taking 1.10 a quarter of an hour later if you're punting 10's on i'm guessing you're kinda hoping for a quick in and out .... |

By:
I don't think they waste anytime looking at footage. They're just on the blower to Betfair to find out which outcome is red for me.

Frankly, baffled as to why the winner was taken down there.
But, haven't seen a head-on view. Still, even from the angle I saw, didn't look like any serious interference took place. |
|
By:
the winner has pushed the 2nd 2-3yds right inside last fur..but 2nd neva stopped riding or lost much momentum..won a nck, could ewe definitively say the 2nd would have won? not imo.
|
|
By:
No, I don't think you could.
Connections of ISLE OF SARK must be feeling pretty aggrieved at that decision, I would think. |
|
By:
I notice on the BHA website it's ISLE OF SPARK [sic].

An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong involving the winner, ISLE OF SARK (USA), ridden by Callum Shepherd, and FOX FLAME, placed second, ridden by Jason Hart. The Stewards considered that the interference had improved ISLE OF SARK’S (USA) placing as, when the two horses began racing upsides, FOX FLAME was intimidated off its intended racing line over the course of approximately three quarters off a furlong as well as receiving two light bumps from ISLE OF SARK to be beaten a neck at the line. The Stewards further considered that Hart was unable to ride out fully inside the final quarter of a furlong having to pull hard on his left rein in order to prevent his mount from being carried across BRINGBACKMEMORIES, which was racing closely on heels and up against the rail. Having reviewed the incident and listened to evidence from both riders the Stewards revised the placings as followed: FIRST; FOX FLAME, SECOND; ISLE OF SARK, THIRD; BRINGBACKMEMORIES (FR), FOURTH; TIGER BEETLE. The interference was found to be accidental as ISLE OF SARK (USA) was hanging right despite Shepherd’s best efforts of correction.

There was photo betting. I laid the fptp at 1.08 in the photo, because there was so much interference going on that there had to be a stewards'. Then six minutes later, when the enquiry was announced, I laid the winner at 5.99 to save my stake. I didn't think the winner should have got it, but I could imagine it happening, with the final furlong being such a mess. It's why I only bet to very small stakes in stewards' - you have to be a judge of human nature, and I've never been any good at that. I really shouldn't bet on them at all.

BEtfair didnt turn this market open until they were well into the backstraight with around 7f left if not shorter
they didnt suspend at the finish at all for another 1 minute and 10 seconds. So you might think there was photo betting but theres no photo on the BHA website and the fptp was fairly obvious on the line. Think the stewards got that right myself, promoted horse kept coming back at the fptp so i think its fair enough However the fptp was backed into 1.05 from 1.2 initially and went out again before the betting ended which I find hard to believe. GEnuine 1.05 shots in enquiries rarely get called publicly these days |

they already did that in the 530
the win market was inplay for about 2 minutes 48 seconds for 'the race', a good guess at the length of one of these races but too long |

For anyone interested in exact timings;
Off-time was 19:32:00 Betfair put into play at 19:32:57, with 7 furlongs left to run. Runners crossed the line at 19:34:24 Betfair left the market open until 19:35:47. There was no photo betting period. Betfair reopened at 19:39:08 for the stewards enquiry. Betfair suspended at 19:54:26 for the stewards result. |

If they appeal, 1.01 they'll change it back imo, not that that's any consolation to IOS's backers. Hands up, got that one wrong. In this instance, Isle Of The Sark was the finisher and had headed Fox Flame, so the question was imo: could Fox Flame have rallied and got back up but for the interference? I don't see how the stewards or the appeal panel could be sure about that, but there ya go, Alan Turing would have a job deciphering these at times. Article about the appeal by Chris Cook in the RP today. Jamie Osborne suggested that Jason Hart made the interference look worse than it was by steering Fox Flame back into Isle Of Sark in the final strides. Hart argued back that he was concerned that Paul Mulrennan, on his outer, was going to run out of room. The gist of the article is that there was a lot of cost and time involved all for the sake of a Class 4 handicap worth relatively little money, whilst acknowledging that justice must be seen to be done, but thinks there should be a time limit placed on them. |
