Nice feature today in the Daily Mail on what was probably the greatest hurdler I've since (although Lanzarote was always my favourite Love).
Still alive, 32 years old and would have surely been the only 4 times winner of the Champion Hurdle had it not been for the foot and mouth outbreak that denied him that chance while still at the peak of his powers.

Horse racing isnt my main sport but was at the grand national when AP McCoy Carried Pridwell? home against it, probably the best ride ive ever seen live (my money was on the winner, so probably biased) think McCoy won ride of the year for it. But Istabraq was a beast of a horse privileged to see 2 fine animals go head to head although memory isnt brilliant from that day due to the vast amount of alcohol!

I only ever backed Istabraq once. Yes it was the time Pridwell won. Never back on heavy going.

CH is just beating horses he should each time, not the horse's fault, we don't have many decent 2M hurdlers any more. Will never be a great in my book either. I don't think CH jumps particularly well, either.

Watching that MARTINSTOWN STUD video reminds me. Horse Racing MUST make the MAIN narrative about the horse, because ultimately that's the sport we love. And it keeps getting pulled away, dealing with other rubbish. I hope the BHA and news outlets start thinking about the Horses again before our sport is gone.
