how would they know Stewpot ... xray vision ? as stated, if you are stuck at the back of the pack, covered up, you are at the mercy of the riders at the front of the pack keeping an eye on the runaway leader. Swan must have somehow seen how far it was in front and started shouting at the pair at the head of the peleton to get out after it.
