My guesses: Loves attention, the thrill of willing, the sun, and doesn't want to retire as probably doesn't enjoy excessive time with the family !

Yeh I guess some of those reasons possible - sitting around with the missus must be a bit of a drag after his career to be fair!

I know many ordinary people who haven't retired at 65 and will work until they are no longer fit to do so. Nothing unusual in any of this.

Yeh, but he announced 'retiring' from racing though...not sure why he didn't just instead say he wasn't retiring but instead didn't fancy riding here anymore, would have been much more accurate...

Attendees clearly more money than sense so I won't be feeling sorry for them.

Doubt if anyone wasting that kind of bunce on a dinner will give it too much thought.

The difference about this job is that they aren't ever too far away from catastrophic injury. And you bounce less the older you get!

Anyone who's been to Southern California will understand why he's there not in Grey Britain!

Do get him choosing US over UK, but he could have been a bit more honest about it in that case. Pretending to 'retire' isn't exactly.

Honesty,I guess most jockeys get used to fuzzing the truth,when being interviewed and asked for a winner.

there was a piece before the end of the season where he made a statement saying he still planned to not ride the uk but would go west coast usa for a time and perhaps the odd dubai ride, but he had no long term plan past not riding here so at this stage he seems to be doing what he said then

I dont even think he wants to be there....Big John gave him the heave ho and i still canny understand why.

I remember being at Goodwood when he rode his first winner here Lizzie Hare.

Riding is in his blood and clearly the opportunity to ride in the USA in the sunshine came along so it is unsurprising that he took it. Good luck to him and should he come back for big events such as Royal Ascot then I am sure he will be warmly welcomed.

All the time he is fit and well I think he will continue to ride.Sitting around doing nothing is not for him even if money is not an issue for him.
