not sure why they don't just bring a ferry load over every day. Maybe one day the BHA will wake up.

when that thing fell, must have been one of the best value plunges to ever get beat. they must have been absolutely distraught.

Flat or jumps, makes no difference, they're all 10lbs+ well in.

fewer places to hide in UK races, smaller fields etc, but Boughey's proving quite good at it.

Irish horses different gravy. UK Trainers simply can`t compete with them. ..... Constitution Hill apart.
Report swiftynifty February 17, 2024 5:45 PM GMT
Different gravy maybe at the top end but handicappers 10lb well in is a different issue.

There is enough data now, over last 5/10 years,to accurately predict the slippage,Irish ratings compared to British.

It would be interesting to see if they are given lower marks than they should.

It should be very easy to give the correct mark given performances of all Irish runners.

But given a computer could do that in seconds, the hcper prefers the tried and tested system of ,just give them a few pounds more so it looks like we recognise that the Irish seem to win a lot.

There could then be the,if you give us too much we won’t come over,so it’s a balance of keeping everyone happy.

The irony is,English owners are having horses trained in Ireland, either better horses or trainers, who then run in Britain because it’s hard to win races in Ireland.

The problem is,if a horse wins a race in Britain, the hcper has to raise its rating, even if it’s a 3 runner race,to be fair to the other British runners next time.

Yet if a horse comes 8th/out of 20 in Ireland their hcper has to lower its rating to give it a chance next time.

The Irish pocket the lower rating and run in Britain,so the slippage isn’t has harmful.

Presenting Percy risen 17lb for the pertempts,Irish screamed unfair,it was top weight, fav and won.

Like I said, there’s now plenty of data,a computer aligrorym could easily sort it.

The last winner had a RPR of 119.
Our Handicapper gave it 130 and it bolts in.
Feel free to have my share

The second from last run was a joke. It did look orf lto to be fair.

One Irish handicap win from 4 races. That was the 4yo hurdle which is often an Irish benefit. Nothing much from Mullins or Elliott in the handicap chases. GB 123 in the Supreme Novice. Skelton is the master of handicaps.
