I wasn't on but it's a very interesting form question whatever type of racing anyone likes. The answer imo opinion is they had run it over 7f for ages.  Give it 1m. ( at Southwell ) and it's 3/3 since a 290 day break.   Didn't look at the race too much before hand but did think to myself why is this one that price. Only came up with some kind of explanation post-race.

well I would go as far as saying you have to be a genius to pick the right ones to make a long term profit with a % anything like that.

On average, 38% of Fav's win. This includes handicaps, maidens, novice hurdlers, condition races, novice chases etc.



If you back handicaps all the time the strike rate goes down.

I’d say you’re well off with 50%, Stew. Every horse posted on here yesterday (both prior and post race) was the favourite. When the favourites price is getting a bit big (around 3/1) then I’ve seen plenty of place bets on the selections.
