Can't be done as far as I know. Later but not earlier
Report ashleigh • February 8, 2024 11:17 AM GMT
first race as stated according to the BHA.
Report Regbutler • February 8, 2024 11:27 AM GMT
OK, what I thought but definitely just said it on baldy TV
Report Manoleeds • February 8, 2024 11:46 AM GMT
Maybe they are going to try to have the 16.30 off at 16.30 instead of ambling down to the start at 16.33 ?

Mystery solved.. It's a baldy shop issue
Not pricing up certain races because of data issues
Not the way they announced it first
Report Regbutler • February 8, 2024 11:56 AM GMT
Something to do with the 5.05 race
No prices on bet563 and suspended on exchange now

It is virtyally impossible to bring race times forward. Think of all the chancers who will try to take advantage and get bets on the winners.
Report Regbutler • February 8, 2024 12:08 PM GMT
OK... It's the 2nd race, the 5.05 that's been abandoned
Don't know why
And maybe subsequent races going off 30 minutes earlier than advertised is what I heard?

Strange

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) and Arena Racing Company (ARC) can confirm that the Find More Big Deals At BetUK Handicap (Class 6), which was due to be staged at Newcastle at 5.05pm today (Thursday 8 February) has been postponed and will be run as part of Saturday’s card at the same venue.

This move has been agreed after it was identified this morning that the race, which is scheduled to take place over 1m2f42y on the round course, was due to go off after sunset. Only the straight course at Newcastle is covered by floodlights, meaning that it would not be safe to stage the race as planned due to low light.

The BHA’s General Instructions state that in no circumstances will a race time be altered so that a race is run earlier than the advertised race time. This is due to the implications for the betting public, alongside potential regulatory, safety and logistical issues. While alternative solutions were explored, the decision has ultimately been made to postpone the race.

Connections of the ten declared runners have been contacted by the BHA to advise of this change, as well as to offer an apology and a reimbursement payment to assist with costs incurred in having made arrangements for the race to be staged as planned.

The race will now be staged as part of Saturday’s card at Newcastle. Original declarations will stand, however non-runners will be allowed without penalty. The opening race of today’s meeting will be delayed by ten minutes, from 4.30 to 4.40, in order to reduce the gap between that race and the 5.35. The remainder of today’s card will continue as scheduled from race three onwards.

We are sorry for any inconvenience and confusion resulting from this error. We will now take steps to identify what caused this issue to ensure it is not repeated.

Apparently it took until today to spot that the round course on which this race was due to be run is not floodlit and that the race start time is after sunset...
Report the dealer • February 8, 2024 12:14 PM GMT
Frightening really
Report Regbutler • February 8, 2024 12:30 PM GMT
As you say... "only identified this morning..."

That there's no floodlights in the back straight etc...

Laughable, and too late to switch it with the opener I suppose

I'm gonna see if I can find a longest traveller in the race, they must be well chuffed
Report Regbutler • February 8, 2024 12:32 PM GMT
Stupid me, the 4.30 race also 1m4f so back straight as well

I could get a job with this race planning stuff
Report Brian • February 8, 2024 12:39 PM GMT
On a dreary date, the jockeys in the now 4.40 might need miner's helmets.
