Probably the worst I have ever felt getting a winner Foyles, worse even than the Marco one at Windsor, would happily lose rather than see that tragic end.

Have they called a result yet? I didn't have a bet but I thought the faller had its nose over the line first and with no replays, there is no way to check. I wonder if they will void the race although the other connections might object.

Don't know the rules, but the jockey and horse have definitely parted company 2yds before the line.
What is spooky is that the whole scenario played out exactly like Getagin's first win over the exact same course and distance. Him leading on the rails in a gutsy finish, with two fancied horses going flat out, to go past him on the outside, less than a length behind.

Not a word that I can find on the RP website about the incident, cause of death etc. Has the BHA issued a statement apart from confirming why the placings were as announced? Their Stewards report just says that as the jockey had not touched the ground, he retained second place. It would be nice to see a Vets report.

Looked like a heart attack to me. It just collapsed on its side. If connections have asked for it to be kept private then fine but they usually issue a cause of death in similar circumstances. They could be awaiting a post mortem.
