I'm always suspicious of Same Trainer Syndrome. Amazing how the unfancied stable mate wins in Ireland & for The Boys in Blue. A valid observation by Me Williams.

Never been to San Francico, but one place I won't be going any time soon is jump racing in Ireland. This meeting is trumpeted from the rooftops, but its nothing short of a sick joke. Ok so the best horses are running, but ultimately horse racing is dependent on the wider public being captivated by specatcle and motivated to contribute with betting and engagement. I just despair at what this has become.

MJK - I'm hardly likely to be unaware of it am I? I'm just so disappointed that what should be a feast and a spectacle has become so utterly soul destroying. And its not just the big meetings, its every meeting every day. I think you get my point.

Less racing in Ireland so less novice/maiden races. Mullins and Elliott haven't run their novices somewhere, not their fault if they're perceived to be much better than the opposition hence odds on. I'd much rather see an odds on top novice having its second run at Naas than seeing the majority of novice races at places like Ffos Las and Southwell.

If there are less of them then there should be more competition. The fact that there isn't removes any notion of "perception". Like I said, I think you get my point.

There are less of them but big fields, bigger than UK fields in the main. It's not their fault if they've novices in these races much better than the others.

Never a fan of looking for ways to lower the bar in any form of life much prefer the stragglers to get off their backsides and look for way to catch up.

Not saying anything about the state of British novices MJ, but I will. Novice chasing in the UK is pathetic. Maiden chases in Ireland that don't contain near certainties from the usual sources still hold my interest. But there are a lot fewer of those around nowadays as the power becomes more and more concentrated. All I'm saying is that competition (in almost all non-handicaps) has disappeared and I'm truly lamenting that fact.
