£400 to be last in line to read the articles, pricewise selections that are well and truly hammered before you can get near them. I've cancelled this, and RacingTV, and Sky - they think they can throw sub-standard content at you, whilst increasing their prices above inflation - I've had enough!

Revs -how does subscribing make you last in line to read the articles and how are the PW selections hammered? I've never subscribed but didn't Mfordy/AscotLad/Windsor Boy/Veritas1/Laura Brown claim that he was first out of the traps on PW by subscribing?

Look at the prices of all the selections put up by the top tipsters and notice that the prices drop well before they're released. Hugh Taylors tips are guaranteed to be lower than the price he puts up and pricewise doesn't even bother putting up prices anymore, which makes his column pointless. When the Racingpost goes to print, info is being leaked from every angle.

Pricewise and other tips are put on the website at six o'clock the night before, long before the printed edition reaches Kings Cross.
The Racing Post has a webcast called In The Know, sponsored by Corals. Early on Paul Kealy complained on the show that Corals were cutting the prices of the selections he and Tom Segal put up. I think that has stopped now and Corals traders look at their online tips so they know in advance who Kealy and Segal will suggest.

just checked, every one of pricewise tips on the exchanges was equal or less than the top price on oddschecker at 6pm. The printed edition will have gone to the printers well before 6pm.

Not sure whether anyone has crunched the numbers but I doubt pricewise turns a profit on his selections other than ante-post where he's playing the NRNB, each way thievery that most punters can't access for more than few pound

It’s cheap really given the amount of info available and stored. It’s like the wisden of cricket.
But it always seems to go up just before Cheltenham, they re not daft.
But it also seems to go up by more than inflation,at some point they need to tell sir Tom ,we can’t keep giving you more mate, but alas,he insists.
The people who buy it,need it,will pay whatever the price.
But casual buyers won’t buy it.
The on line members fee,is great value,if using it everyday,I don’t know if a daily fee is an option,or a specific meeting fee an option,
Most people don’t need 90% of what’s in it,they buy it for the 10% they need.
Mind you, they still print the results section in the weekender,20 years after the internet was launched,
My guess is there’s no more than 10 people still collecting these results pages, but every week,20 pages of results are printed.
They could scrap all this and print a cheap, saturday only weekender.with maybe a bit of footy,no results section.
The current situation is crazy.

They do. It is called Racing & Football Outlook. The RFO's digital edition (along with the Post's and Weekender's) can be read online with Members Club Ultimate.

A 25 per cent (or £100) increase does seem a bit steep. What extra value has been added? There just seem to be more and more tipsters of uncertain competence who presumably still need to be paid. Or are we just covering increased hosting costs for the RP computer servers?

Deptford -- "I have never understood why anyone would pay for this"
Even if you are not interested in any of the website content, you can read the Racing Post online and also RFO & Weekender, whose paper editions come to just over £40 a week. Call it £30 a week for just the Post and multiply by 50 weeks in a year, that's £1,500 right there.

elise 02 Feb 24 18:35 be interesting to know what demographic is buying the subs and what new younger membership they attract, you'd think they are slowly bleeding to death
Think elise has nailed it here.
RPost need to cut their cloth accordingly or they'll go bust!

I opted out a few years ago for a couple of months when the site was running like treacle. Had all the info elsewhere Video replays form ect but so time consuming hopping from one site to another. RPost very convenient for me and I will more than likely be sticking but like others have already stated, the post's on going shelf life will be short in its current, do it all form!

It was always going to become a tipster rag they stopped tipsters advertising so they could tip themselves so they lost about a million a year, but it was amusing and kept the interest up those tipsters adverts, now it’s just a boring read, the sun tried charging and viewing went through the floor, the daily Mail tried charging this week but it didn’t work and that’s been cut back, the post has its fingers in plenty other pies so it won’t affect it that much the paper going which it will as digital newspaper screens move into all bookmaker shops, never paid and never will, finished with racing channels as it’s addictive and times change, most things are free and better

I did a racing post interview last year and suggested splitting into specific offerings at reduced prices. E.g the all in line form at say 20p per race.easy to segregate on line.
Obvs fallen on deaf ears.

There are going to be so many businesses that go under during the impending recession. If a company takes the p with their prices I'll cancel just out of principle. I only used sky for racing TV so the cost for me was £40 per month - worth it? no.
