Just thinking of people who might just have wanted to back the second fave to win.
In the case of fairness sparrow despite them being separate markets let's compare the places...
Bookmakers place 1.90 vs 9/2 at one fifth odds a place 1,2,3
Exchange place 1.25 vs 11.0 at one fortieth odds a place 1,2,3
Just thinking about the people who might just have wanted to back the second fav on the exchange.
Infinitely more punters against the long odds on who'd want to back e/way in that race rather than win only.

Yes lets just have each way markets and pinch a penny or two here and there.
20/80 backers on here get a 10/1 second and only break even.
It's not a penny or two for anyone playing to leave the bet stand though is it.....

£100 e/way exchange at 11/1......lose £75.00 +commission
If you want mathematical long term examples to prove taking 9/2 vs 11/1 and 1.90 vs 1.25 for that shape of bet then fine although using either method is doubtful to produce a long term profit of any note , but wait for the race cards to present themselves in a favourable way and play a multi then i know it's extremely fruitful.
To put some perspective on this race the only time you'll have a smile on your face is when a 2/13 shot gets beat and only then if your 2nd fav wins the race , otherwise e/way exchange today loses £75 so think about how many times the win side is going to happen , on the other bookmaker side you lose a tenner which allows 7 or 8 times the losers , i remember you stated once you change the ration of win & place but in the race today that still won't favour the exchange value debate as say £50/£150 is mathematically no better.
As i've always said you can be a one-dimensional exchange player but to take advantage of every opportunity you need BOTH accounts.

Yes Ken on this example you'd almost nick your total stake back less commission but only be playing £40/£160 in comparison so if it did win you'd get £550 back on the win side with a bookmaker but only £480 from exchange less commission.

Sparrow starts these threads frequently. There’s no point in explaining to him the logic of needing both accounts. He’s a dinosaur who thinks his way is the only way! I know he’s a place backer. I hope he wasn’t taking 1.25 about that though. If he backed it to win then he got better value than customers betting with the books. He got the same return as them though!
No kenbo I had no bet and am not interested in that sort of punting. Betting with bookmakers is of no interest to me anymore but if you can make it pay then well done.

You have a good point there. You were ahead of your time when you signed up on here.
I have seen plenty come and go on here in my near 22 yearson here and have heard it all before about how it should be done so excuse my scepticism. Apart from that I learnt plenty before that on both sides of the game with my dad an on course clerk in the days most on here would never have witnessed.
