great chance for owners in GB to buy some very good horses if they are willing to pay.

No way would I leave them there if I could afford one. Ireland maybe but if your horse is only the fourth best in the same yard, what chance will you get to run in the right race?

Sageform Gordon places his horses as well as anyone , fact horses are happy and running well would be enough for me to leave them there..Are you going to make it to Cheltenham tomorrow Ill buy you a pint if you are..

leaving because to many of their horses getting injured/killed
none of their horses running at DRF
and all horse been sold at public auction with no deals/prices agreed beforehand,
bid the highest and horse goes hoem with you
29 horses going to sale

No problem Sageform, I was just wondering seeing as this sale has come totally out of the blue ,is there trouble in business ?

Probably raise getting on for £1.5 million  . Its probably 1/2 million a year to keep em on the go. Expensive hobby for the super rich.

The loss of DB Cooper at Fairyhouse the other day was the last straw.

I was there Punchestown and thought to myself ,boy they are having a tough time, but a horse can break a leg coming out of its box...

Does anyone buy that reason?

Not saying it's not true, just interested what people think.

I don't think Gordon has been himself in general this season judging by his demeanour whenever I've seen him. To be fair to him he's usually in good form whatever the results but a few times this season he's looked like someone with something on his mind. Could be all nothing of course. Regarding his horses he's still gonna get plenty of winners whoever he's training for.

They lost there best ever hoss Mighty Potter @ Fairyhouse last year.May be other undedrlying reasons but as Punchestown states probably final straw.

MJK spoke to him yesterday in Gowran briefly he was with Eddie..It can be tough losing such a highly rated owner..

Absolutely. Bigger issue for racing is what if others decide that the sport is a bad look with fatalities and decide to pull out as well.

They lost another horse Smooth Player only a couple of weeks back and I suppose the loss of north of 250K on DB Cooper has forced a rethink.

It is a bad look with fatalities. Jumps racing is difficult to justify. Even if the horses don't break down or die falling/jumping, some of the races look brutal.

Think i read somewhere that they have a youngish family and they were taking it badly after losing some fav horses.

I believe them. It is hard to explain to young children why their horses are getting killed. They might come back when the kids are older.

I'd have done the same. You love the sport; spent the money. And, then a few of the horses were killed on the track. What for? To be emotionally tortured? One has to walk away and accept horseracing is not the sport for them to enjoy.

Yeah exactly, i used to keep racing pigeons and of course the kids always picked the fanciest coloured ones as ther favourites, they were like pets but jesus when they were lost racing it was tears for at least a week.
