Plenty of AW racing on the menu for the rest of the week. Post all your naps and plays on this thread. Throw in a little reasoning if you've got time.

The only one I'm interested in today is Enola Gay in 5.00 Newcastle. She still looked on good terms with herself LTO and went down all guns blazing against another mare who is also in top form. I think this stiffer track suits her better than Southwell. Dingle will run better now dropped back to his optimum trip and Hale End will probably get the run of the race. But I've played the slow starting, strong finishing Enola Gay. GL lads

Thanks WP. Best of luck with the very game filly.

Race didn't pan out for her. Big run from the 2nd.
Report Whippin Piccadilly • January 16, 2024 5:15 PM GMT
One run too many for Enola? Dingle lands a right touch...not off a yard LTO.
Report saddo • January 16, 2024 5:30 PM GMT
Only bet today Princess Alice in the next, a bit thin now tho.
Report Whippin Piccadilly • January 17, 2024 3:09 PM GMT
There was plenty of money for that one Saddo but it ran well below expectations. Banded "quality" racing on offer today and if I wasn't in both the needy and the greedy camps, I wouldn't even entertain having a bet. But something has to win, isn't that what they say? Devil

Anyone sweet on one today?

Only one I'm looking to back is David's Diva at Kempton in the very last race of the day. She's lightly raced and has shown improved form in each of her 3 runs this AW season. She beat a couple of useful types for the grade LTO on the Tapeta but she has form on the Polytrack and appears versatile tactically.  With a touch more improvement likely the 5/2 - 9/4 looks very fair.
Report GEORGE.B • January 17, 2024 3:38 PM GMT
saddo, Hugh Taylor made it a 2-pointer, great minds were evidently thinking alike Wink, but it was a ridiculously slow time, suggesting the winner had been allowed to crawl along on the front end and Danny was pissing against the wind in trying close from off the pace.

three times he's ridden her and form 2-1-5 (hampered) only a 1lb above cd win in November
has won off a mark of 58 in past, trickish draw for a prominent runner but worth a small
dabble at 11/1 and 6/5 for 4 places

tesco's ready salted 6 pack is what my wife got earlier, though you only get about 12 crisps in a pack these days

got one im looking at tonight but risky - arent they all!
Report Whippin Piccadilly • January 18, 2024 5:24 PM GMT
More packaging than actual crisps!

There's nothing I'm especially sweet on this evening but Bobby Joe Leg might be able to follow up his recent win at Newcastle. He seemed to hit form at around this time last year and his current mark isn't beyond him.

What's your risky one, NEC?
Report N-east Correspondent • January 18, 2024 5:29 PM GMT
Ustath - Jason Hart's only mount of the night, hit form this time last year (had run poorly in two comeback races) and has won off 58 in the past 50 tonight

risky due to bad run lto, but might still have needed run after break from April, another year older, add in stable form which is pretty grim viewing
however loves Southwell and this is a weak race, 4th of seven runners gets your win stake back but it's still risky  Plain

gl chaps
Report Whippin Piccadilly • January 18, 2024 5:35 PM GMT
Good reasoning NEC. I think you're right to be worried about the stable form but the course form is a plus. I hope it runs well for you NEC
Report N-east Correspondent • January 18, 2024 5:42 PM GMT
ta and good lucky with Bobby Joe Legg has run up win sequences before and escapes penalty for apprentice race win

thought Back to Dubai might be the one in that race but not really that convinced in a trappy heat
our two pays 12/1 for a RevFore

Fell's form is abysmal though he did have a close third the rest have run like drains and that might be harsh on drains
Report Whippin Piccadilly • January 18, 2024 5:51 PM GMT
Like you say, very trappy. More of token selection but he should still run well. The racing tomorrow is looking a bit better to me.
It looks a poor race with most having a dislike to winning. GL Nec

Report Whippin Piccadilly • January 18, 2024 6:08 PM GMT
Cheers NEC. Cool I no longer let a horse drifting put me off. I just think over a course of a season it levels out as long as my selection process remains sound.
Report Whippin Piccadilly • January 18, 2024 11:52 PM GMT
Lingfield's lost is Wolverhampton's gain tomorrow with 4 races being shown on ITV. In their opening race, I can't see how a 10lb rise will stop Palace Boy. Artisan Dancer, who reoposses isn't a bad type, got the run of the race LTO and Palace Boy most certainly didn't. But the unfavouble race setup didn't stop PB powering clear to land a very nice gamble. He looks a class 3, maybe even a class 2 animal.

Good thread lads..

Fancy two today

Dundalk 6-00 Dromantine

4yr old who kept on well winning comfortably over CD off 69 in 2yr old days for tonight's jockey, decent run when third again over CD last month and now wears first-time blinkers with that outside draw that I like at Dundalk..

Dundalk 7-00 Mauras Gift

CD success in November 2022 off higher, two narrow misses of late and raised 1lb for both, Donagh O'Connor replaces usual apprentice

ATHOLLBLAIR BOY (7.15) Got going a bit last time. Will do for the ew double at 10/1.

Good luck.

One for tomorrow. The grandly named Winter Oaks at 3.10 Lingfield is just a fillies handicap and none are rated 90. That said, Andrew Balding has kept Eleanor Cross in training for Cheveley Park. Still a maiden but only raced 4 times so I will risk £1 each way.

Tropez Power -2.00 Lingfield

This horse travelled really well on his comeback at Newcastle after a 6 month break. Although he did meet some trouble in running this has been exaggerated in the reports. The jockey never got too busy with him after the slight interference and this looked like a classic comeback run where he wasn't expected to win. His last performance at Lingfield, in Feb 23, when 2nd, was in a fast time and better than any horse in this race has achieved over CD in the last 18 months on my figures. Available at 10.5 for the win and 2.36 to be in the 4, and with a draw in 4 that should be ideal, he looks primed for a big run under regular jockey Jason Hart. In what admittedly is a pretty competitive race, Starshiba also looks overpriced based on his course speed figures and might also be worth a small bet. Good luck today everyone. Cool
Report barstool • January 20, 2024 10:56 AM GMT
Arctician 12.15 looks to have a decent ew shout at 12/1 with a decent draw to work from under David Probert, who has ridden a few of todays field in recent times. Ought to know the time of day with it at least.

Avery competitive looking Newcastle card this evening, and so it should eb with some decent prize money on offer.

5.00 - Plenty in with a chance. The 3 I'm looking at are Turpinator but I'd prefer him at 7F. Winter Crown who looks the best long term prospect for the upcoming Turf season but will he be ready for today? And Mighty Power who beat the likely favourite with a bit up his sleeve LTO but will need plenty of luck in running.

Any thoughts on this trappy race lads?

Parthenopeaus could be a spot of value to upset those at the top of the market in the 6.30. This horse took an age to get to the track debuting as a 5yo here a couple of weeks ago. The penny really dropped late on and he pushed one I consider to be a fair sort all the way to the line, even though that one got the run of the race. I think this extra furlong will be just the ticket. Hopefully he can make up for lost time starting tonight.
