he was thinking about which excuse he was going to use when he got called in

Permission was given for JAX JUNIOR and OFF THE JURY (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start.
Approaching the final half furlong, ACE OF SPADES (FR), unplaced, lugged marginally left-handed, momentarily inconveniencing a weakening WINDSURFER, unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
On the run to the line, STAVVY (IRE), unplaced, edged right-handed, resulting in the rider of LAND OF MOON (FR), unplaced, taking a precautionary check, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race, James Bowen reported that THE HAPPY CHAPATI (IRE), which started favourite and finished unplaced, stopped quickly.

David rides All of You in the first at Kempton tomorra. Owns the hoss and rode it to victory at Fontanbleu last time oot.
He'll be up a against some proper jocks though so the hoss says it's hopeful of a decent run.
Nicholss has a french import in it [ a pony for the triumph] although Sir paul says you can have a 1000/1 with him that any of these line up for said race.

wonder if Keils is still offering a 1000/1 it lines up for the Triumph
His rides need 5st in hand to have a chance of winning.
