By:
OK sorry geoff , thought that's why the link was posted.
By:
the only chink was one overjump that was dealt with by the hoss [experts keep bringing it up just in case he does it happens again, the hoss hits the deck and they can crow, I told you so].
Biggest Sir Tainty of the festival for many no doubt. |

By:
sir tom is putting up a champhurdle tip ,obviously playing for places if the fav turns up ,aqnyone know what it is ? thanks
By:
Looking through the entries could see this being a 3 or 4 runner race if CH stays fit
By:
Mr Mullins could do an AOB eg deploy a battalion to try and frustrate or eye-ball Constitution Hill.

If he was mine he would not jump another twig.....Flat Racing is his Oyster.

Does make you think. If Vauban was 9/2 Fav for the Melbourne Cup?
By:
Can you imagine how good he would be with 3 stone less weight to carry.

Nagging doubt? The one where CH wants to go A LOT faster than Nico will let him. That one? lol
By:
What is it,anyway?
Cheers |
By:
"bravery at his hurdles". Jumps some from a long way off.
By:
In fairness thats a bigger danger to him than any opposition.

Free-Stateman

By:
moon man ) is what i think, the best horse we have seen for a very long time.
By:
Somewhat pernickety and curmudgeonly in my view.
Is that really all he can come up with as a criticism? So, if the horse ever makes a hash of a hurdle he will be able to point to his/this insight? Pretty poor stuff. |
By:
He's got an impossible job here. He's got to come up with an antepost bet against a freak. He can't say "no bet", and he can't put up CH at 1/3. So he has to find some "doubt" to justify an alternative.
This is the one context in which I feel sorry for him as a tipster - races like this put him in an almost impossible position, whereas most punters can simply sit back and watch the race, back on the day, or do a Harry Findlay. |
By:
I suppose your point is a fair one but it actually highlights my pet complaint about so-called "tipsters". If they don;t see a value bet simply don;t make a recommendation. And say so, and tell us why if it is relevant. What is the point of tipping in every race? They can't possibly give us every winner. It is why I stopped watching recently defuncted rpgtv on greyhound racing. Every single race the so-called pundits and guests would give us their "tips", a huge percentage of which were meaningless.
By:
all driven by bookmaker sponsorship.
By:
Yes, that's a fair point, though I suspect better directed at the Betting Editor/Editor of the RP than at Segal himself. Presumably, they regard his columns as a driver of sales for the paper, so publishing one that says "no bet" is not what they want. Cynics might suggest that tipping anything against a horse like CH is also good for the paper's advertisers.
By:
There is a certain irony with CH in that his greatest strength low fast economical jumping could be his only weakness/undoing.
By:
The headline on the Racing Post site would seem to seem to suggest that he had unearthed some left field selection, but no, it's just the second favourite which anyone could have come up with.
Would they really give him the boot if he insisted it was a 'no bet' race? I doubt it. |

Strontium makes some excellent points
![]() |
By:
the sun and shadows have tricked him there before but it is the only danger. You need a fall. Hope he doesn't get it.
By:
Thank you Hayden.
By:
what's the point in giving selections like that because if you can get on you are on your way to having the account closed unless you are a long term hopeless loser. ( odds on fav with loads of no hopers )
By:
I agree. Good points strontium. Which is why I rarely read a tipster column.
By:
Same here Honcho never read tipster columns , only time i receive feedback is when someone starts a thread on here but even then it's normally over a couple of selections rather anything meaningful like the last 12 months or so.

Sir Tom put one up against the top two in the 'Moscow' on Sunday and today he believes he has one to beat Jonbon and ElF abiolo on the weekend.
That pinned header he has on the front page claiming he has '5 years of profit' has gawn to his heed. Walks on ater the noo ![]() |
By:
Amazing how much money talks.
Clearly enough to make Segal and the Racing Post look totally stupid. Yet the lemmings still follow. |
By:
he's taking them on in the champion chase my bad.
even so the pair are rated 170+ a piece. he's also taking on Mullins in the Gold Cup. |
By:
Won't Constitution Hill have to get beaten one day?
Might not be this year, or next, but if/when he does, @ 1/3 AP i think its worth opposing him....Isn't it normally 1/10 to jump around.. now he has a poor scope and is not running in the unibet. interesting |
By:
cacique -- now he has a poor scope and is not running in the unibet. interesting
Only interesting if CH burrows out of Seven Barrows and fetches up in Ireland for a miraculous recovery. |

Shame how it's worked out,we might have seen the best hurdler
for years just the twice between Chmpn Hdles. That's if he goes straight to the Festival. |
