Do away with All Novice handicaps, and require horse to run in # novice chases before giving them a mark .........The current system is totally unfair to the 120 handicap hurdler going chasing ......and rewards mediocrity .........they don"t do it in Ireland , it beggers belief that we do it here........

We have been there before and it has been recommended on here several times. The novice handicap system was brought in to stop novice chases being 2 horse races between the best from Nicholls and Henderson until they had all won a couple of races. They could improve it by having more valuable (and higher maximum OR) novice handicaps so that Nicky would stop complaining about the lack of opportunities for his Arkle horse. Using hurdle ratings in novice chases is not perfect but it is better than level weights.
