It is extraordinary how little they check these things well before racing to avoid such embarrassing scenes.

Who ever is in charge at the track should be sacked. They must have known the issues with the car track long before this. What actions did they take to solve the issues before hand?

The guys is on RTV now. He says they walked the course three times this morning and saw no issue. Only when the medical team turned up did they say they wouldn't be able to guarantee the sub one-minute response time.

Track official saying that the medical team 'were concerned the ambulance would not be able to reach a stricken jockey with 1 minute - which is the limit allowed'.
Well, let's just think about that for a moment. Suppose it took 1 minute and 10 seconds to get to an injured jockey? Would that make any difference? Why do we need limits on things like this anyway? Suppose racing had gone ahead and a jockey had taken a bad fall. Would the ambulance have not gone to them because the medical officer felt they could not get there inside 1 minute? Of course not. In the same vein, would an ambulance not go to a RTA if it couldn't reach there in a certain time? Again, no. If we carry on like this we will have to stop everything ever taking place in the UK. What the busybody officials don't ever weight up nowadays is the CHANCES of something happening. Yes, a jockey might take a fall but then he has to need to ambulance before the time limit 'matters'. The majority of jockey falls do not require an ambulance. But way too much today is based on the very worst case scenario. Risk will NEVER be eliminated from human life, but it seems we are basing our reactions to everything as if it can be. I have said it before and I repeat it. The UK is now a pathethic, axnst-ridden, frivolous, and star struck nation. |
