Went from 2m novice hurdles straight to the Welsh National, that had about a 4f run in. Must have been a low sun that day!

Murder is easy , BBC one has a fella putting £40 on Mujaba II at 40/1 to beat Never Say Die in the 1954 Derby ( it didn't ) at a city roadside kiosk (! ) . Then this kiosk has a race commentary (!) and Mujaba wins after the mile and a half race takes 30 seconds (!) The bookie then chases him down the street to give him his 400 pounds ( £40 at 40/1 !!??? ! ).
To make it worse the fella then goes into the pub ( still 1954 ) and orders some pork scratchings, and after tasting them asks what they are. The answer is non existent mate. They were not mass produced for pubs until the 1960’s. Later on he speaks of reading the Racing Post, no you didn't mate. It was founded in 1986. Why cant they do a bit of research in these scripts. They are spending millions on settings, vintage cars , actors, costumes etc etc. it would have taken 3 minutes research to sort this. Yes I am being pedantic but I am 73 and it is allowed. |

The anti English sentiment coursing through this film was extraordinary.

It’s amazing how wrong some of these shows get it when it comes to gambling. I may be repeating myself but I remember an episode of Eastenders years ago. Two blokes from the pub were going to have a race, the obvious winner was priced up at 2/1 while the fat outsider was 10/1.
