Got to disagree with you there sparrow
I think he was better later on doing the ballads, wearing the jump suits etc Just had him singing My Way better than anyone, even Frank |

Forgot to say, liked the early stuff as well

I hated the later stuff from 1960 when he went into the army. It seemed he was performing more for our parents than our generation.

I love those early Vegas concerts when he was still at his peak.
But by 1972, as can be seen in the film Elvis On Tour, he was starting to put the weight on and, although still performing well, it looked a different person on stage, for example, performing Suspicious Minds, compared to the dynamic version featured in the film That's The Way It Is from 1970. Elvis rallied for the Aloha From Hawaii concert, getting himself into good physical shape, but I think it all went downhill after that. But as for young Elvis vs the 60s onwards Elvis, the John Lennon quote comes to mind: When John Lennon was told of Elvis Presley's death, he famously responded: "Elvis died when he joined the army," |
