BHB are idiots, just how many are going to get up that early to go to the races, they will still be having Breakfast. How is this going to increase betting turnover.

By:
the DG's are in klover..stewyb heck statick.
By:
Online betting they are looking at and not on course.
By:
Rico, even worse than you imply. Taunton NH is one of the 3 "Premier" meetings in the afternoon slot and has a total prize fund of £86k (approx). Lingfield has £242k (approx). How on earth do the BHA say that Taunton is the more important fixture justifying "Premier" status? Bonkers.

If its for online betting people, on here and online we will be slowly dying off, there will be no new blood to replace us,so how is this going to improve Horse Racing getting more attention.Lets go racing at 10am has no appeal to any new people.
By:
Or existing people. Putting a supposedly big fixture like that at 10 am is insane.
By:
I agree that 10am starts are ridiculous but the point made by Donegal Prince is the fact that Taunton with prize money way in excess takes precedence and can start at 3pm.
By:
I should have said Lingfield with prize money way in excess of Taunton should be starting at 3pm.
By:
Tantis your very kind only calling them idiots
Racing in the uk is run for online bookmakers |
By:
But once you've blown a couple of hundred , you'll be blocked until you've submitted your inside leg measurements and school cycling proficiency certificate, so the online will dwindle.

good job it isnt a 10 o clock start at chelt tomorrow hardly any horses can be arsed turning up for a lunchtime start

What time will the Horses have to set off, what about the stable staff.?
And on course bookies getting there 2 hours before the first race for the pick. Who are these people running racing ? Clueless, i guarantee they'll only have it for one season. |
By:
Some of the morning glory pigeon catchers from the gallops might
blossom now sent racing at 10am |
By:
All I can come up with is that they're hoping to attract Far East betting money?

ronnie will be gutted thats usualy the time his customers are putting a grand in to virtual racing

Dambuster
The people who have run racing for a long time now have no long term interest in the sport they get a good salary then after a pay off move on to another industry and then another. |
By:
BHA doesn't give a fk about people who go racing. The Lingfield start time is a joke. Plus the prize money for Saturday suggests that they'll have no trouble filling each race which makes for competitive heats generating decent turnover. It'll be interesting to compare those races with the ones put on in the so-called Premier slot between 2-4.
By:
Who on earth thought it was a good idea to put up a valuable sprint handicap up at 10 in the morning?
They want taking out, handing their P45 and never asked back. The prize money problem in British racing is not going to be solved by creating more fixtures. Do we even need Lingfield's Winter million? Or the Ascot champions day run on a bog for that matter. |
By:
Or that Ascot team event rubbish in September
By:
Lingfield normally open their gates on a Saturday 2 hours before the first, wonder will they open at 8.10?
By:
The AW meetings are poorly attended anyway, so doubt it will have much affect on how many racegoers turn up.
By:
The AW finals were well attended, it's an enjoyable 'afternoon' out. I sure as hell won't be going to it at 10am.
By:
Free admission would help create a bit of atmosphere
By:
Personnally i couldnt give a fck about british racing now,we all know the problem, its the bookmakers and until we get shot of them and move towards a model of what all top racing countries use then racing will continue its downward spiral in this country into oblivion.
By:
As said earlier the Lingfield card with good prize money should be an afternoon card.
By:
There is so much wrong with Racing in Britain, i cannot believe some of the Gimmicks those in charge come up with.
Bookmakers should either take bets and not discriminate against the 1% that make it pay for a start. and No AW Racing from May until October and add that prize money to lower grade races. |
By:
Is it though because Lingfield in January is not seen as a big fixture, the AW right in the middle of the jumps season? It's Clarence House day that afternoon at Ascot and the Tommy Whittle Chase at Haydock. So, the BHA decision is to concentrate on national hunt, as it's January.

There are a few on here who just want to get rid of AW fixtures as they personally dislike them.
