Anyway, it's good exercise walking to a shop and you can meet people who share your interest and thinking.
By:
I'm sure it was once possible to place multiples on the exchange but it was stopped -anyone know why?
By:
To encourage use of Sportsbook, I guess, Manoleeds.
By:
You've been here a while Manoleeds and if you think this was possible it must have been before I joined.
By:
It was there when you joined stewy.
By:
You must be right sparrow but been gone a good few years imo.

Dear all,
We regret to announce that as of Thursday 29th August 2019, the Exchange Racing multiples product (mutiples.betfair.com) is being permanently decommissioned due to technical limitations. We apologise for the short notice but hope, where possible, you will continue to place your racing multiples with Betfair via the Sportsbook. Please also keep in mind that BSP betting is still available on the Exchange. Regards, Betfair Customer Service sparrow, it certainly wasn't available when stewy joined in 2002, can't remember the exact start date |
By:
If i remember correctly when you clicked on the 2nd selection it defaulted to the sportsbook price or thereabouts , so effectively you weren't playing 100% books but the usual excessive compounded over round for your acca.
If possible timewise to play the re-investment way you'd still benefit over 95% of the time despite the ditto 2% commission. |
By:
Hayden, it was exchange price at BSP - 5%, nothing to do with the sportsbook.

Who will I be betting against?
Betfair will be taking the other side of Horse Racing Multiples bets. This is the same as with our current sports Multiples product. Will Betfair be hedging? Yes, as we do already with our current sports Multiples product. We intend to hedge a proportion of the risk associated with Horse Racing Multiples bets. This will be done via an automated process that will consider the total risk on a particular horse and place hedge bets at the BSP. These bets will be placed as we become aware of our liabilities and our aim is to put them into the market as early as possible to make Exchange and SP layers aware of their existence. The identity of which customers are backing or laying which horses (whether through the Multiples product or on the Exchange) will not be a factor in the automated hedging process. The hedging by Betfair of its Multiples liabilities will provide new liquidity to the horse racing Exchange markets, which should be of benefit to those customers already active in the Exchange markets. They took a few hits apparently by some sophisticated algorithms and that was that. |

You're probably right about when he started swifty, but certainly available while he was here. I never did multiples so would have no idea of the starting date.
By:
OK fair enough swifty , just remember you didn't get the exchange price for your multiple.
Rings a bell now thanks ![]() |

i fancy a dubble the morra...
exchange 1.25 & 1.9 £500 @1.25 returns £625 -£12.50 = £612.50 net..£612.50 @1.9 returns £1163.75 -£23.27 = £1140.48 -£500 steaked = £640.48 net ladcrooks 1/5 & 4/5...£500 dubble returns £1080 gross = £580 net yet stewyb gans into town by mobility scooter to ladcrooks? seems sensible innit. ![]() |
By:
Hayden - you didn't get the full Exch price for your multi (as swifty says, BSP - 5%) but this was in the days of standard 5% commission (reduced by BF points) and you didn't pay commission or PC (for those that do) on Exch multis, so it was by no means a rough deal. I miss them too.
By:
Cheers Longbridge , remember clicking and the price reducing but forgot it was set at 5% , but now makes perfect sense since the commission was also 5% at that time
![]() |
By:
the ruse was you lost 5% on each leg rather than at the end, but it still beat industry SPs more often than not

Think the main point to take from it Swad is that it's always a consideration and in the vast majority of scenarios it's the way to go , but being oblivious to the opportunity isn't shrewd punting.
