Would it be better to use trading software such as bet angel than going directly through the website?

I'm guessing Betfair is being slowed by some stale content that your browser has cached. If it is only you who has the problem, it is likely to be at your end rather than Betfair's (even if you take the view that Betfair is badly written and architected and unduly prone to leaving stale content lying around the place).
At another level, this has worked for me in the past and I really cannot be bothered to try and debug Betfair's issues. Even if I succeeded, they're not paying me and would not change anything on my say-so. Next time you see this slowness, clear your browser cache. If it does not help, you've only wasted a few seconds. |

it was slow when john posted. also noted above by tiger and fat punter.
and as john states every other site was loading ok. |

I get it too, having betfair website open grinds my computer to a halt after a hour or so.
Only way to get it going again is to delete cache and cookies etc. never used to do this, used to have same problem with having racing post website open, but it’s definitely betfair causing it now. |
|
By:
Fwiw I keep Betfair exchange and forum pages permanently open and reboot my pc once a month, if that. Windows 10; Chrome for Betfair. The point is the problem is not universal.
But if a large minority is affected, maybe it is because they are using a dodgy front-end server at Betfair Towers whereas most of us are being routed through to good front ends. But again, BoosterRooster deals with it by deleting browser cache which is where we came in. |

Betfair is hanging and crashing latest Firefox regularly. Are they aware of this problem?
|
|
By:
strange as ive never once encounter BF normal interface being slow...i do keep on top of device maintenance not sure if thats the reason.
|
|
By:
Mine is mostly on Firefox too if that makes any difference. I also have other windows open, and other stuff running, but used to have twice as much running on an old PC without any trouble.
It’s really annoying, as it seems that all is ok. But if I forget to close it all down, delete cache, and start again, eventually it will become unresponsive, and sometimes grind the whole computer to a halt, then I have to try and get task manager up to shut everything down and reboot it. It only happens when I have betfair website open, but maybe I just have a really sh1t computer. |
|
By:
tis really important you maintain your device..
one of the most important is removing the dust that clogs the processor up..if not maintained the dust that the fan constantly sucks in to cool it will eventually cause it to overheat and stop the device from operating.. some clean up softwear is readily available and very good..windows 10 has a couple of easy to operate built in ones. |

I do try and keep everything up to date, clean and upgraded. I tried going from windows 10 to 11, though that didn’t help either.
I’ve tried removing various apps and programs etc, though ultimately, everything is fine, unless I have betfair website open, then eventually it will start slowing, then start lagging, then the cursor won’t work, and then finally it becomes unresponsive. I will try rebooting, cleaning it, getting all the dust out, and running all the cleaning tools, if it still does it, then maybe I just need to get a new computer. Though it does seem strange how it seems to be affecting some users, and not others. I thought it was just my PC, and it’s definitely worse on PC, but I’ve noticed it doing it on iPad too, that after a hour or so, it starts to slow and grind, and eventually needs rebooting. |

Spend £900 on a new apple iPad,problem solved for years, mine is five years old and still rapid and no problems at all ..
Any search is there in a split second BT latest hub…… |

Betfair did have a massive go-slow for me last night after 10 o/c.
|
|
By:
was something going on last night. but rico will have you believe it was your fault for having too much dust on your Neutron Microgravitational Modular chipboard ...

It's slow because it's a bodged mess and probably always will be. Clearing cache won't change that. If it's becoming a major headache there are only two solutions and both cost money. Upgrade hardware or use 3rd-party software (Gruss or Betangel)

Something has definitely changed their end in the last week or so. I have a fast pc, crashes sometimes when refreshing prices etc
|
|
By:
Some times do seem worse than others but we've probably had a dozen similar threads on here in the last year tbf
|
|
By:
I've cleared my cache and done a defrag, and I thought that it was running quicker but now it's gone back to being slow again. It must be the site.

GoBallistic your suggestions in your post at 10.51 sound about right.I had been having this problem on bf for around 6 months. So decided to replace my 6 year old chromebook with a new one.
During the black friday offers bought a asus chromebook plus model cx3402 for only £239 on amazon it has 8gb of ram which is double the amount of my previous chromebook and so far it has solved the problem for me,no problem with speed when placing a bet so far. Hope this helps some of you. |

By:
if not on a tight budget...get something with an i7 processor and 16gb of ram..difference is night and day.
|
|
By:
I run C Cleaner to clear cache, cookies etc. at the end of every day and have no problems at all with the site.
|
|
By:
Same as sparrow , set McAfee to clear end of business and using Virgin BB one-gig , never a problem with speed.
As for laptop , no idea about Rico's suggestion as brother in-law works as an IT geek so told him exactly what i wanted it for and he created it for the purpose. I'm furthest from a geek so find a man who knows better. |

I'm using a new browser called Vivaldi. It appears to be much better but I haven't tried the LV.
|

By:
I just tried the LV at Lingfield and it was the best I've ever known it to be. Looks like I'll be changing to Vivaldi for good.
