People assumed he was recovering after being let out of hospital.  He was obviously being let out to die at home. RIP.

May the wind that blows from haunted graves
Never bring you misery
May the angels bright
Watch you tonight
And keep you while you sleep

My favourite lyrics of his seem apt today.

Didn't actually look well for close to 30 years.

One of England's finest songwriters though, emerging from the public school tradition that gave us so many rock stars.

My favourite horse racing song is "Bottle of Smoke" by The Pogues

Here's another, "White City" for the Greyhound Racing fans

How sad but not very surprising.

The Pogues have done some brilliant songs.

I've heard many critiques of Skinner for that interview.. but the man is a piss taking comic ffs! was something different really expected?

Alongside being very talented musician, MacGowan's CGAF attitude was his greatest charm.

I've been loving you a long time
Down all the years, down all the days
And I've cried for all your troubles
Smiled at your funny little ways

RIP Shane.

All these flag wavers protesting would be the first to call on the military to save them in times of trouble….

Too many military personnel paid the ultimate in Ireland to be giving’supporters’ the old rip…..

Check out parkhead at a home game…..vomit inducing….imv

I always try to separate sports/musicians/entertainers political views from there achievements and try and enjoy them, but he was a pretty hardcore supporter and didn't give a **** who knew.

Absolutely not. I don't support any terror organisations but from the football forum you're obviously a bitter current bun. Just don't start waffling about things you have no clue about as though you were there.

FOTP -you seem to have a real chip on your shoulder regarding Shane -anyone who read his lyrics would have no doubt about his political allegiances.
Do you really believe the British Army was 100 per cent in the right in Northern Ireland,Afghanistan,Iraq,Libya and Syria.

I drank in a few of the same pubs as Shane -Filthy McNAsty's in Angel and Dillon's and DEvonshire in Kentish Town.A Good friend of mine was close to him -he actually wrote a song about him but it is fairly average.
Some random facts -Johnny Depp adores him and they were Good friends. He would always give money to someone begging on tne street. He absolutely hated gambling.I never saw him drink a pint -I think pernod was his tipple and some class A drugs.

Ok that makes him a god then…..I don’t have a chip on the shoulder….but certainly detest any supporter of terror group..

As far as the post on the football forum a was merely stating the obvious…..both are mediocre….

johnny depp is no recommendation-hes a gold-plated poof and wanchor

mcgowan went to a very expensive school and not really a larrikin

he was not much of a sherbeteer at all. anyone who drinks pernod or vodka is avoiding it. he appeared regualr in an appalling so-called pub in n6. he was harmless enough
