Yet amazingly we are still able to lay them odds on - did you?
Report hulk23 November 8, 2023 1:45 PM GMT
not privy to what he's up to but in other racing jurisdictions Nicholls would be standing in front of the stewards explaining why that horse was sent to the races
Report slickster November 8, 2023 1:46 PM GMT
For a tolworth winner that run was disgraceful. Even if "unfit" it can't be running that badly. Beaten from the start.
Report stu November 8, 2023 1:46 PM GMT
Been able to lay fairly blindly with him recently - just on law of averages...

‘racecourse gallops’. Imo

Probably 50%….dreadful scenes from the Uk number one…imo
Report hulk23 November 8, 2023 1:49 PM GMT
brings the whole game into disrepute when he's not training horses to do themselves justice. no idea what you're looking at and the formbook clearly goes right out the window
Report sageform November 8, 2023 1:52 PM GMT
Do you think it would have run in a £6k handicap if it was highly regarded?
Report hulk23 November 8, 2023 1:58 PM GMT
not highly regarded ??

Grade 1 Hurdle winner, yeah they probably don't regard it all LaughLaugh
Report Twoboyz November 8, 2023 2:00 PM GMT
Did it just not fancy fences. Never going after awkward jump at the 1st
Report sageform November 8, 2023 2:05 PM GMT
If they thought it was much good over fences it would not have run there! Plenty of level weights 2 mile novice chases coming up. The horse has clearly gone backwards since the Tolworth. I backed it in the Supreme but never again.

not really.  one was fit and ready to run, ones been standing in a field for 200 days.

could you back that one with any confidence having seen the last one ?
Report sageform November 8, 2023 2:14 PM GMT
Jackpot D'Athou described as a 2.5 mile novice in the Nicholls year book and that is how it looked. Only got on top of the second at the last but then pulled away.

Regarding Tauhumas it was its 1st run over fences and some horses take to it and some dont. Bonkers really if you are having a go in a novice chase where the fav never jumped a fence in public before imho.

Pre covid I saw a piece somewhere where for the previous few years the percentage of winning short priced horses who were having their first run over fences and were much higher rated over hurdles than their opponents was actually very high and profitable .

Race 2 - 1:30pm
THE TVS SUPPLY CHAIN SOLUTIONS NOVICES' LIMITED HANDICAP STEEPLE CHASE (CLASS 3) (GBB RACE)

Permission was given for COLONEL HARRY (IRE) to wear a red hood to post and be mounted on the chute.

The performance of TAHMURAS (FR), which started favourite and finished placed third, was considered. After examination by the racecourse vet it was found to be lame on its near fore.

what is lame, ask Jessica Harrington.
Report hulk23 November 8, 2023 2:48 PM GMT
don't mind that one (Hurrican Danny), bcos Cobden told Sir Bob it'll come on for the run. so at least the punters know it's out for a gallop. tailed off.
Report FELTFAIR November 8, 2023 3:12 PM GMT
Both the winner and the second had run against the favourite last season and were weighted to reverse that form. Having said that the horse never looked happy in the ground or jumping its fences with any enthusiasm.
Report toplay November 8, 2023 4:26 PM GMT
He has all this top of the range gallops. No excuses. Bookies benefit
Report sageform November 8, 2023 5:01 PM GMT
He has the same excuse as the trainers of 90% of beaten horses. The horse is not as good as favourite backers thought. Why would you think he would run an unfit horse on heavy ground?
Report shoodacoodadidnt November 8, 2023 5:39 PM GMT
When was Nicholls ever predictable? Try following stable tips - it's like Mullins telling you what fkying shape Vauban is in - they're not in it for you.
Report sageform November 9, 2023 12:17 PM GMT
I think he is quite predictable. If the race is valuable they are trying for their life. Novices are trying but not given hard rides if not winning. Routine handicappers have a long term plan so leave them alone. Trainers are not usually responsible for market prices.
