not this race and not always possible but arnt these races the time to try and do something differently once you no,s theres no pace, instead of just accepting your fate and riding as though there was plenty of pace on,your never going to do it when there is pace so when do you ever learn anything

quite horrible - but when they're told "not today" that's how it goes. Only one trier in that race. I laid the third at 11.0 for 3 places - yeuk!! If you want a laugh you should compare how hard that was ridden, also out the back with City Escape with Muscutt's effort from 3 furlongs out. Hilarious. As an aside, I like Muscutt generally. I'd rather have him on my side.

sparrow 27 Oct 23 13:37 As you should know full well by now George.B is that I no longer waste time with you.
I'll 'translate'...
I've no idea why I said it was "a slowly run race", it was based on exactly nothing.
Always remember, a wise man has something to say, sparrow has to say something.

A bit of analysis, though the sectional gurus might correct this.
According to the on screen sectionals, they went an even pace and then they went into the red from 4f out, suggesting that these ordinary horses might have stepped on the gas soon enough, and then the sectionals went into the blue turning in, indicating that the front-runners were slowing down, before the winner fired in a relatively quick final furlong.
Using the furlong-per-furlong times as a guide, the race came out fairly well as a comparison on the card, or at least the winner did.
And as swifty points out regarding the closers being dragged into it, (though the winner likely would have won whichever way he'd been ridden), those on screen sectionals would seem to sum up how the race was run.
