Was never clear as to who the " people " were , which made guessing the winner impossible.

I think the result is fair.

I've never backed Kauto Star despite his 3 Gold Cups triumphs; Red Rum's fame was owed to the Grand National; Desert Orchid and Denman (how did he make this final?) were lesser credible.

I think City Of Troy would have to win as many and the same races as Frankel to be lauded the same recognition. However, he'd usurp Frankel if winning the Epsom Derby too. And, this is a possibility given AOB has 2nd strings for the key races too.

Just questioning who are the people , read the names out to both my brother and wife , both knew of Desert Orchid and Red Rum but not heard of the other three.

So the people i'm guessing would have to be punters or quizzers and then of course it becomes an age thing with 40yrs between two of the horses.

Puzzling vote to me and i'd guess the criteria for selection differed greatly from one individual to another.

The jump vote (72%) got split and let in the one flat horse in the lineup.
