No idea where they got the hottest September from either. Have worn a jumper since august and the shorts went in the drawer long ago. No scientists talking about July. 13 deg monthly average here ! Coldest since records began.

That spoils the narrative. You must not mention lower temperatures than average or bird or insect species that are increasing. The "experts are determined to concentrate on bad news and so BBC and Sky censor good news on the environment.

Different country, different weather. We are getting warm days but very autumnal nights with low level mist early in the mornings.

Unbelievably it's still raining up here, started Friday afternoon and it literally hasn't stopped.

Some of the pictures in the media do portray that something very unusual is happening in Scotland. Mudslides and flooded railway tunnels etc. We have had a dry weekend in Somerset but plenty of rain in the past 6 weeks means that reservoirs are at 95% capacity so no threat of water rationing!

Offered the missus a nice walk along Berrow beach Instead, we're off to Cheddar car boot to stock up on plants This was a trade-off for all the rugby I'm getting to watch |

Today:
A rather murky start, with low cloud, mist and outbreaks of light rain and drizzle at times. Any rain gradually clearing to give drier conditions, with some bright or hazy spells of sunshine developing during the afternoon, especially inland. Maximum temperature 21 °C. 21 degrees October is not as we used to expect in the North of England. |
