Got a Goodwood programme 1973.The above horse won the Gordon Stakes.B.Hobbs/J.Gorton.
Did he run in the Leger? Is used as a trial.I know he didn't win it.

Goodwood Cup 2M 5F was that day aswell.Proverb won,B.Hills/E.Johnson-3yr old 7-10.(see he won the next year under Piggott).

Led that years St Leger until 1f out, finished 3rd to Pelied and Bouy, btn about 2 1/2 lengths.

I was telling a few Highclere owners last year that there was never a less appropriately named horse than their Proverb, a 5f sprinter. Nobody else remembered the staying horse.
